Pipboy light glitch

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:30 am

I've been google searching around for this glitch for awhile now and I haven't really been able to find anything, mostly because there's another pipboy light glitch (the one where the screen is bright when the light is on) that seems to be a lot more common.

Here's a video of it, the quality is poor but it still demonstrates what I'm talking about.

The pipboy light seems to fail to cast on terrain like this sometimes, and it seems only to be terrain, objects show light properly even if the glitch is happening on terrain between the light and the object. I'm mostly curious if anyone else even has this glitch, but I am hopeful someone has experienced and solved this problem before me.

FYI I have windows 7 64bit, a Nvidia 450 GTS with the latest drivers.

What mods are you using? I have the same issue, not a big deal but if I can find a way to fix it, why not.

I run a few mods, I haven't confirmed whether or not the issue is present running vanilla FO3 but I have weaponmodkits, MMM, and FOOK2 1.1

Glad to hear that someone else has the issue at least.

FOOK2 1.1 comes with Fellout, yes? I have a feeling it's Fellout causing the issue.

You said you had the issue as well, so then, you must have fook2 or fellout?

It's odd that I haven't seen much posted about this then, I was under the impression fellout was used by a good percentage of players.

Well I've discovered that there's no option to disable fellout within fook2 so I'm stuck for the time being, luckily it's not what I consider to be a major glitch. I've noticed it for a long time but I'd always had more major problems with my game to ever ask about it. Thankfully now this is one the the only issue I see often.

I can't edit my previous post again, but I just wanted to confirm that the issue is not present for me when running just fallout3.esm.

I think your suggestion that it was related to fellout is probably correct. Anyone running fellout without this issue?

Do you use NMC's texture replacer? Maybe that combined with Fellout causes issues.

I also notice you and I have nVidia cards.I have the GTS250. I'm not sure how similar the two are, but the type of card might have something to do with it. (I think this is kinda a long shot, but worth mentioning.) I haven't had any other shader or texture problems unless it's something I've personally messed up.

I'm gonna go find some documentation.

I have used NMC's textures but am not on my current install, so that's not the cause.

Yay I'm not alone anymore! :hugs:

I'm having this issue with both F3 and FNV. In F3 i think the Dynamic Weather mod is causing it, and in FNV I think it is the Electrocity mod. It's not just the pipboy light, but also light cast from burning barrels and a few other lightsources. I don't really mind it too much, but sometimes it get's under my skin a little and I keep looking for someway to fix it. Please let us know if you dig up something!
