Arcane stars texture

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:26 pm

Hi guys, just checking in and leaving you a little present. I'm back in school - yay! - but unfortunately that means I don't have a lot of time for modding or art in general. I haven't played Morrowind in ages just because it's so fiddly, I'd rather play than fix it. In any case, my ongoing projects of making female cuirasses and finishing Better Clothes haven't been scrapped (all that's left of the non-expansion clothes is the Hair Shirt of St. Aralor, actually), but to get my art urges out I've been http://plangkye.deviantart.com/gallery/26923672, because it leaves me time to eat/sleep/do homework during the several-hour rendering times it gives me.

So while I was playing with Apophysis I came up with a fractal I thought maybe someone could use: http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/8923/arcanestars.png that follow magical-looking circle patterns. Dwemer observatory, anyone?

Enjoy, and take care!

Sold to the man who always misses his mod release deadline! This is great and yes a Dwemeri home it'll have. Either as a map or in the Observatory in Arkngthunch-Sturdumz. Thanks :).

Nice fractals! There is an older mod around somewhere that has some fractal tapestries, but your are much nicer.

Good to hear you're still working on your other projects still.

Wow, I'm bookmarking your page. I love stuff like that! Particularly http://plangkye.deviantart.com/art/Vinca-185231722?q=gallery%3Aplangkye%2F26923672&qo=14, http://plangkye.deviantart.com/art/Irresistible-Cliche-183302140?q=gallery%3Aplangkye%2F26923672&qo=19, and http://plangkye.deviantart.com/art/Star-Pearls-183267531?q=gallery%3Aplangkye%2F26923672&qo=17.

Hey, what kind of music are you into? Do you listen to music when you create this stuff?

I'm really glad to hear this. Your textures are beautiful, but I've been waiting forever for someone to do BB armour and finish off the clothing. (I'd attempt it myself, but unfortunately I have no talent in that direction.)

Music doesn't usually have a great creative influence on me - when I do listen to it, it ranges from 80s power ballads to 50s rock-and-roll, with a little bit of anime soundtrack and operatic metal thrown in. Opposite to what one might expect given the whole fractals thing, about the only 60s band I ever listen to is The Who, whose songs I always found notably untrippy.

Fractals are so cool, too bad I svck at making them. I pick up apophysis now and then for a couple hours, try to make some of the randomly generated ones look cool, and give up after I only make them look worse.

 So pretty!

Congrats (and good luck!) on diving back into the realm of academics! I've still got a few years to go at university (my college upgraded to university status this summer!), I can't even think ahead to when I have my degree and need to job hunt.

Fractals are sweet, I watched a NOVA program on them, but none of the examples they showed are even half as pretty as what you've done with those stars.

Go ahead, you are free to use them just as if they were a resource under the give-me-credit clause. A link back to the page in the readme would be nice too. :)

Whoa. Those fractals are sweet looking, Plangkye. I can't think of any use that I would have for them (now at least), but I wanted to comment anyways.

By the way, good to see you around again, I hope that school's going good for you.

Just finished my first trimester - doing all right so far! They're putting me in the kitchens soon as I get back from Thanksgiving break (I'm majoring in pastries at Johnson&Wales in Denver) which means I'm about to obtain a lot more free time. So I might actually finish something!

Meanwhile, have I missed anything major, like Westly releases or new MGE editions? I'd like to be sure my game is as pretty and stable as it can be when I get time to play again.

Denver? As in Colorodo!? :o Wow! So far away! How are you adjusting to the elevation, or is Denver not as high up as some of the other cities? You think you'll ever make Elder Scrolls themed pastries? You know, like a moon-and-star shape or a daedric letter. Just for fun. :P

Do you plan to visit Yellowstone Park?

And good to see you around again!

Responding to questions sequentially: Yes, it is that Denver, and it is in fact a mile up - on clear days I can see the Rockies, but somehow adjusting to elevation hasn't even been noticeable, let alone a problem. Elder Scrolls pastries have indeed been on my mind, though you're thinking much too small-time... I was thinking more along the lines of an edible replica of a Telvanni tower, made of sugar.

Yellowstone Park is twelve hours away by car. I do not have a car.

Oh. Uh. I, um, wow. I should have checked my geography better before even asking that question, right? Wait, I know what was wrong. I keep thinking Yellowstone is in Colorado. It's in Wyoming, isn't it? Ugh, I haz a case of deh stoopidz.

Does pastries include cake? I'm envisioning a tiered cake replica of one of the Vivec cantons. Mmm, delicious...

Er, back on topic! Do you have more star fractals to share? I think it would be wicked cool to have one as a night sky texture.

What a silly goose you are!. Well I'm still gonna listen to trippy psytrance music while looking at your fractures :homestar:

Yeah, Wyoming and Montana.

Cake is included, but I'm currently learning chocolates! Vivec canton cake would be pretty brilliant though.

I don't currently have any more fractal stars but they may pop up during later fractal-making, I'll be sure to post them here if I do!

Those arcane stars look great! I think it would be awesome if you could make something like this for Morrowind's nightsky and its star constellations... would be great to actually see the Lord, the Serpent, the Atronach etc. up there.

Cool idea, fractal constellations. Would need a lot of postwork to make them the right shapes, though... if I knew how to script new plugins for Apophysis I might be able to do it for real, but as things stand I'd have to fake 'em :)

Return to III - Morrowind
