[ RELz ] Treant - by Antares & LiberumAvis

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:20 am

"I've heard talk of the walking trees. This island holds many secrets it seems."
- Falx Carius, captain of the Imperial Guards at Fort Frostmoth.

"The tree spirits of this island. When the All-Maker breathed life into the creatures of the land, his Breath blew through the trees as well. Some of these trees kept a part of this life, and these are the treants you see today."
- Korst Wind-Eye, shaman of the Skaal Village

This mod adds a new creature, the Treant, in 5 places of the Hirstaang Forest, in Solstheim.
When you meet them, they may be sleeping, and looking like other trees.

There is also a new topic, "Treant", that is activated once you have met at least one of these creatures.

This mod requires BLOODMOON

Whoa, now that was fast! :o I must say I love how he poses as a regular harmless tree in the beginning. Another great creature from the ultimate creature maker to fight, wohoo!

Beware the walking tree.
Best cut down with mighty axe.
Remember, cry "Timber"!

Another superb effort, Arcimaestro!

Arcimaestro Antares,

Your mods are state of art! Your Treant and especially Undead creatures are just amazing!

By the way, do you see any possibility to create Telvanni wizards? Original concept art for the game shows that they should not be entirely human, but more of magic creatures. LIke these ones:

If anyone can possibly make them - it is you. :)

I've installed this and your Trolls mod, and I crash about four out of every five times I try to start a new game. If I uncheck the two mods mods and regenerate my merged lists, the instability goes away. Any idea what might be causing this behavior? I'd very much like these in my game if I can work out this problem.

the treant shouldn't create problems, because don't use leveled lists. The troll yes, but I don't know how the merged leveled lists work.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I honestly didn't think about the issue specifically in terms of problems with merged lists. I just tried merging lists with Trolls disabled, but that didn't help. But I saw from Mash's merge output that Sabregirl's Morrowind Ecology was the other mod with common levelled lists, so I tried disabling that, regenerating my merged lists, and... voila! Crashes gone.

So I think it's safe to say there's an issue between the two mods, particularly with respect to bm_ex_hirforest and bm_ex_hirforest_sleep. Anyone have thoughts on how best to resolve this?

I guess you could merge both mods. Load both in the construction set, (select Sabregirl's Morrowind Ecology as Avtive File). That way, the leveled lists of Sabregirl's Morrowind Ecology should overwrite the ones from the Troll mod. Then add a Troll to both bm_ex_hirforest and bm_ex_hirforest_sleep leveled lists and merge the mods (FIle-> Combine Loaded Plugins).
This will create a new plugin that is meant to be used in place of the other 2.

Maybe there are better solutions to fix these problems, so ianyone who knows it, is welcome to offer an alternative :)

Ok, I figured it out. Morrowind Ecology did not have the "Calculate from all levels <= PC's level" checkbox checked for bm_ex_hirforest, and Trolls! did. Checking it in MW Ecology, saving, then remerging lists resulted in a stable final product.

Thanks again for your help.
