MCP and EXE Optimizer bug

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:27 am

Good afternoon!

I've been working on rebuilding my Morrowind install again, and applying all the cool new mods (NOM 3!), but I've had one small glitch. When I patch my Morrowind.exe with the latest version of the MCP (1.8, and just now 1.9), and then try to run EXE Optimizer (1.8) on the resulting file I keep getting failures. I've tried it both on my home PC (XP), and on my work PC (7-64), with the same results. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm hoping that the MCP fixes up the executable enough by now that EXE Opt may be less critical.

Rochndil, who still has a few mods to install, then a ton of compatibility-testing, and then some personal mod tweaks to complete...

Rochndil, you should first apply EXE Optimizer, and then MCP. I'm used both of them without a problem. Good luck!

I thought that would break MCP's ability to patch the executable properly. I will freely admit that I haven't tried to do it that way, since that's the opposite of what the docs recommend.

Rochndil, now a bit confused...

No, MCP works perfectly on a "optimized" exe. You can ask other user tho, but i've always do it that way and everything works as intended :)

I used to do it the other way -- MCP and then the optimizer, since the latter is a general patcher and the former is assuming a particular file structure (or so I thought).
