Preparing yourself

Well, it might sound a bit weird, but is there anything you guys do before you start playing Oblivion? I know it might sound weird, but for example, an internet friend of mine always make sure there's a bag of drop next to her.

Before I start playing I always pee. I don't know why: it's just a habit I guess. After it I make sure to get either a coke, a lollipop or also some drop. I've got a drop and lollipop addiction.

I play on the floor. I have to get all my pillows and blankets set up just right around me before I play. I wriggle into position, adjusting my keyboard on my lap, adjusting the board that holds my mouse to be at the right distance, etc. I usually drink some water as the game is loading. The last thing I do is put on my headphones. Then I'm off. ;)

What's drop? Candy? For me, it always changes. The best is with whiskey neat.... at night, sound up, dark in the room.

I run an aplication named Game Booster, to shut down all proceses that aren't needed to play oblivion. Unless I am testing something, this times I tend to have Tes4Edit, Wrie bash and different aplications running.

Oooh, good thread MissesFoxy!

I usually decide to play Oblivion after I've spent some time with my nose buried in a book (fantasy, of course) or writing about Tamriel. So I finish all that up, go refill my bottle with water, make a sandwich and a mug of tea, light a cigarette and start playing.

And it's pretty much ALWAYS the same. I'm rather worried now.

Unplug the internet cable from my desktop and move it to my laptop, open up MSN, UESPWiki and various other things on the laptop while Oblivion is loading, and go grab some food and something to drink while the main menu music is playing.

I've actually never noticed before, but I always do everything in the same order and the same way. That's just weird...

I have no real ritualistic way of playing it. Normally make a cup of tea. That's about it really.

And I don't have any special ritual.

How long does the game usually take to load for you?

I usually restart my computer, just because I feel like the game runs better on a fresh restart =). I guess it's like touching the grass before a football game, lol.

And then I typically get a glass of wine. I've been drinking a lot lately =/

My character and I make sure that our spirits are fully intertwined and we're both ready. Then we make the interplanar jump from my body on earth to her's in Tamriel. We simply reverse the process when we leave Tamriel. Talk about fast travel! We've gotten quite adept at this over the years.

It feels kind of like a two step process:
1. :hugs:
2. :bolt:

Fun topic!

I generally only have time to play on weekends. We also have three gamers in the house with all three gaming computers/consoles within 15 feet of one another. So, if one or both of the other gamers are playing their games, I will put on my headphones and become imersed. If they are not playing or watching TV, it's crank up the speakers as much as I dare. I am probably overly considerate of my household and when using the speakers keep the volume fairly low. I have recently discovered since using my headphones (which I didn't do the first few years I had the game) that there are sounds I have never heard before, which is interesting since I've played the game for so many years. I actually heard the trees creak recently. There are echos when you close your stats window. Fascinating the details that went into Oblivion.

Bathroom at first, since I'm always to lazy to go when I'm playing a game and that is trouble for my stomach. I like to have something to drink like coke or milk, or something similar. Off to go then!
