Fun idea that probably would never happen

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:23 am

I always thought it would be cool if characters' physique could change with their stats. It always felt odd to me that every male of a certain race had the same physique as the other members, and that everyone was equally buff (or not buff) despite having really high or low strength/endurance. I know in Skyrim at character creation we'll be able to fiddle with character physique, but I think it'd be neat if the physique would change with the stats. A male Breton mage would probably look a lot scrawnier than a Nordic barbarian. And when your strength increases, your character's muscles would get a little bigger/ more defined. Stuff like that.

No need to use stats to change your physique, you can do it manually in Skyrim. I don't see why you need to go beyond that imo. Mainly the reason I say that is because it annoyed me that my character in Fable would become horribly muscular to the point where he looked like a body builder when I raised my strength level to max. With Skyrim's customization, I can make my character just the right physique.

You must not have read my whole post. You can't change it after you create the character (unless maybe via console) I mean dynamic altering in-game of the character's physique AFTER character creation based on his/her stats as they change.

^ This. I hated it in Fable and I don't want to see it in Skyrim.

I'm not fond of this idea, either there are few variables and it seems to have little point or there are lots of variables and it's easy to end up with a ridiculous looking character.

I believe I saw something about characters having adjustable physical attributes in addition to adjustable facial attributes. Bodies may not change over time or as your stats develop but at least everyone won't look the same.

Not something I would want. I strong person doesn't necessarily look as buff as another person will equal strength
Plus, I don't think it is something that could be done well enough to make the majority happy, since there are so many factors to consider.

Eh. I just don't like looking at a character's bulging muscles when i know his strength is so low he can barely lift his own gear, or vice versa when the character looks scrawny but can beat up a dragon bare-handed by sheer strength. And Fable svcked, so I'd rather not play it again. (Except the part I'm talking about...that feature was good. But it was overdone in Fable. I want it to be not as drastic)

Good point, Sin911, some strong people are more petite. Like a martial artist compared with a bodybuilder.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled at the prospect of being able to modify my character's physique at the beginning, to reflect what his stats will be. Just thought it would be a nifty thing to add realism, though like you guys've said it probably would end up not pleasing a lot of people.

I don’t hate you but I hate this idea.

I want full control over my characters appearance.

Plus, most high level character just end up looking the same anyways. See Fable.

(Sorry, didnt see you had already got pounded over the head with the Fable thing)

Please god, no. I watched as my female character in Fable 2 became a mass of muscle that looked like a cross between a man and a gorilla

That's why my girl in that game was a marksman with now points at all into strength. Still svcked to not be able to use swords effectively, though.
