wish I could help, never heard of that error code b4. You tried uninstall/reinstall, but perhaps try getting a new copy of the archive? Maybe you got corrupt file? Even try a different download location (I believe you can find it in more than one location)

Er, this might be a no-brainer... but do you have anti-virus?

well, since I've never heard of it before I did a google of the error code, and there are a lot of different scenarios listed with the same problem... seems to be listed in many different areas visual basic, com controls, code gurus... they all have identified the problem and it is NOT enchanted editor specific from what I can tell...

One suggested that a file called mscomctl.ocx can become unregistered (it IS windows after all) with the system when you download a lot. Never heard of it before but the link is here:

i google your runtime error and it looks like it's related to COMCTL32.OCX either not the correct version or is not registered correctly(vb service pack stuff).

i did see SilentThief's too i think it may be a VB service pack issue.

have you installed any new software since the last time it worked? had it worked that PC before?

have you follow the same steps installing EE as for morrowind? i know little about windows 7 but it might be having the same issues that morrowind has. are you vb run times up to date i can't remember what program needed the run times updated but that might be issue. i have asked someone a http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/ if they have installed EE on their windows 7 pc and how they installed it. you might try making a topic there.

Try the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290887 and see if that fixes the issue. Your error is a VB one and not having the runtime files installed could be what's causing it.

Then try the registration option SilentThief and latendresse76 mentioned. If the latest VB runtime components are installed on your system and you're still getting that error, it could be because one or more of the files needed either were never registered properly or somehow became unregistered. Also, if you have EE in the Program Files (x86) folder, it might not have the necessary access to the system that it needs. If that's the case, uninstall it and reinstall it to a different folder that's not in the aforementioned folder. If that doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas.

In the run box, type regsvr32 COMCTL32.OCX and press . You may need to run the run box as administrator. To do that, type the command in but press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER and it should work.

"The module COMCTL32.OCX failed to load ..... The specified module could not be found"

this error popped up when i entered regsvr32 COMCTL32.OCX into the elevated (Admin) command prompt.
