FallOut 3 has stopped working Please help!~!

So I bought Fallout 3 GOTY once again to play on my newer computer. Installed no problem.. DLC installed no problem...
Started it up and it set my settings to High after determining my hardware.
Clicked new game. Loading screen appears.. for roughly 5 seconds and then the dreaded message appears.. "Fallout 3 has stopped working"

My computers Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Athlon II quad core 3.1ghz CPU
Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1gb ddr5 GPU
8gb DDR3 RAM

Set it to 1920x1080 resolution (using 22" LED widescreen monitor)
Drivers are all up to date.
Windows 7 is fully updated.
I manually installed the FO3 update from this site.
I ran it as Administrator. Didn't work.
I ran it in Compatibility mode for WinXP SP3. Didn't work.
I changed the settings from high to low.. didn't work.
I changed the resolution to multiple different things.. didn't work.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to work? or have I wasted my money? lol.

Well I got it to work.
I am still in Vault 101 but I got a new game to start.

I searched everywhere looking for a solution.
I read a different persons post on a different forum and they had an asus gpu as I do.
They said they uninstalled GamerOSD and it worked.. which came with the asus card which is used to record gameplay and other features.

I followed suit and uninstalled GamerOSD and started up FO3..
Set everything to high settings with 1920x1080 resolution and attempted to play FO3 once again.

Voila.. the new game loaded. I did a few things inside Vault 101 and exited game. Since restarted FO3 multiple times to make sure it wasn't just a fluke.. and still works..
We'll see how it works once I get out of Vault 101.

I have played a little bit more (past the galaxy radio) and had few problems.
I did have the game freeze 2 or 3 times in the past couple days during gameplay.. which I just restarted the game and continued on my way.

Have you tried the quad core fix?

Open up the .ini file located in My Documents>My Games>Fallout 3. *Do not alter the one in the actual game directory labeled Fallout_Default_ini*
In the FALLOUT.ini find the line

bUseThreadedAI=0
change the 0 to a 1

then below it add the line

iNumHWThreads=2

(Quoted from one of Starforce9's posts).

Fallout 3 doesn't play well with more than two CPU cores, and this fix forces it to run on only two. It worked great on my system (quad core Phenom II with an Asus MB).
