Enemies you hate the most in Daggerfall!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:43 am

Definitely the halting guards. I feel like giving up just to shut them up, they must think your character is deaf or something.

I guess you can see where the "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM" Oblivion guards came to be.

Any creatures that make me turn into them after a combat. I don't care for their bonus status, I just do not want to be them.

Overlords. Stupid Andyfall...

Should we... should we spawn more of them?

But really, is andyfall worth using?

Simple rule. Applies to more games than Daggerfall.

Now in pseudocode!
if(creature.power > player.power)   {player.hates -> creature}else   {creature.dead = true}

As a spellcaster, I don't really have to hate any enemies. I usually blast creatures and such before they pop off a noise.

But since I have to answer, I hate skeletons. Their noise makes me wanna pop my ear drums.

Ghosts, because they paralyze me. Anything else is not too bad as long as I have some hall space to back up so I can keep shooting them with arrows while avoiding their attacks.

Classed humans.
No warning sounds. Infinite supply of arrows. Level parity (so their spells really hurt).

i always wondered if they forgot to implement sounds for the humans.

but my vote goes to Ancient Liches.

their "auto-nuke entire room" spell is...annoying.

There's a lot of unused soundfiles in Daggerfall, including a lot of human ones - pain and death grunt sounds for both males and females, including stock sounds such as the Doomguy's pain sounds. I think there's even some leftover sounds for enemy humans on horseback as some of them include the clip-clop of a horse's hooves and others have horse neighs in them.

maybe one should ask lucienDXL to implement those on the humans?

and those clipclop sounds was for a guard on horseback, he replaces all the ordinary guards in the Andyfall mod.

too bad Andy didnt make it into an option to exclude those horseguards when installing the mod, or atleast not use it for every guard ingame.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of andyfall. The mounted guards looks silly, especially when you fight them. And I don't really need S&M leather armor. Overlords make for an hell of a tough fight, though.

How exactly did he implement Overlords? Did he modify some file that defines the attributes of a pre-existing human enemy, or is it completely from scratch?

Human enemies just use leveled versions of the base premade classes (the same as those you can pick during CharGen). For Andyfall, He edited the base Battlemage class into perfect stats.

This is interesting, as it does mean that if you can edit the premade classes then you can edit the human enemies.

Ghosts are annoying since paralyze is always the first thing they do.

Vampire Ancients are simply terrifying. "Daggerfall" turns into "GTFO" as soon as I hear one.

And wot's this about Overlords? I am intrigued.

The Nymph. For the basic reason that even though my character is fluent in the language, they do not seem to understand my message of "Lets make love not war" Maybe it is because we speak a different dialect? ( the languages do not work use them for skills only to complete a character concept ) Or they have something against female Dunmer Vampires. Oh and the fact that I was not allowed to use the nymph as an avatar a few years ago :P

I seriously hate glitches/ bugs and the only way to dispatch them is to reload a save or the game. :meh:

Seriously though, the dragonlings can be fairly tough.

... I do hate skeletons though. Not hard to kill, but those unholy shrieks... how in the seven hells does a pile of bones without a larynx emit such a ghastly noise?

I'll agree with this. I haven't been playing that long, but the skeleton in Privateer's Hold scared the hell outta me with that damned shriek.
