Worth bying the PS3 GOTY?

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 2:40 pm

Hi guys!

I'm wondering if you think it's worth buying the PS3 GOTY edition if you have all DLC, some enviroments mods and bedroll mod for the PC?

I'm mostly looking at beeing able to play in front of my TV, and my PC is rubbish with everything set at low-medium. Do you think I'd get better graphics for the PS3? I think I migth miss the mage-tower DLC and Vile lair/dunbarrow cove, but since I'v not even touched KoTN or SI, I guess I'll still have things to do.

You guys on PS3, do you think it's harder to RP without the mods? My bedroll mod comes to mind, I think it helps with the mood.

I migth add that the GOTY would cost around 15 £, so it's far from expensive :D

Since Oblivion is my favorite game I have purchased it on PS3 and Shivering Isles on PS3 then 3 months later I purchased it again on PC and all the same add ons again. I use PS3 version for serious gameplay and the PC version for mods, cheats, and roleplaying. I'm also planning to purchase it on Xbox 360, just because I feel that since its my favorite game ever that I should own all versions. Yes buy it if its only that cheap, the only thing to watch out for on PS3 GOTY is the Vampirism Cure bug.

Take it easy now. Sure, the PS3 GOTY edition is a worthy purchase, but the vampire bug is not that easy to fix, especially if you don't have a second vanilla disc for PS3. More info http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Vampire_Cure#PS3_GotY_Vampirism_Cure_Notes.

As for the graphics, yes, if someone plays the game on low-to-medium settings, then the PS3 graphics are good, but if you can do medium-to-high settings on your PC, the PS3 version is nothing to write home about. Still, it is nice to be able to play the game on a comfortable couch in front of a big TV, but then again this is also possible with the PC version.

Well in my case its not necessary a second vanilla disc because i'm an european player. As you may know you have to deliver some ingredients. The bug acts when you have the Bloodgrass and you want to deliver it but because of the bug the NPC doesn't accept it. so all you need to do is save, the go to the main menu of the ps3, then system settings, translate to German...
For some reason when you load the game you can deliver the bloodgrass without problem. You deliver the Bloodgrass, save, main menu, System Settings, translate agin to english and its done! its easy... =D

To bad for American Players =(

Couldn't do any harm, I suppose.

And Segvirion, I have to disagree about the vampire glitch. It's pretty easy to fix.

Im european, so I can cope with the glich

I guess the main question is if you think I'll be disappointed of the game without mods and dlc? What level of graphics does the ps3 correspond to?

I'm thinking of getting the PS3 GOTY version myself. It's dirt cheap. After playing nearly 1.500 hours until my PC broke during a summer vacation I got the X360 version and really enjoyed it even with console controllers, vanilla version and all. It's just a different experience to play Oblivion in front of a big screen sitting with a gaming controller relaxed on the sofa. :celebration:

I'm not sure how to respond to this.I owned it first on PS3,but since I've been playing it on PC with mods I think its better.I enjoyed the PS3 version had a ton of fun RP'ing but the mods, especially FCOM,and some of the combat mods(DR5,UV,DMC Stylish) idk, I think it makes the game waaaaay better. And if you got an LCD TV,most likely it has a port to plug your PC into, thus getting the big screen goodness with sofa comfort.Thats how I did it til my PC AND PS3 went bust. but then again if its that cheap, and your PC is bust right now,you can't go wrong.
