Super OP characters

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a real challenge to reach level 100 and beyond.

But lower skills will still level you up regardless of how long it takes. Previous games made you think about what you needed to level up in order to make the "Perfect" character. But I guess this system allows you to just play

And thank Baby Jesus for that.

"In a nod to Bethesda's other role-playing universe, fallout, each level also brings the choice of a perk." - GI article in the magazine. You do get a perk at every level from 1-50. That's a total of 50 perks.

i sure hope not. If there's only 50 perks, and we get one every level, then everyone is going to turn out with the exact same perks.

there is 18 skills, from what weve seen each skill has 10 perks... so well end up with 180 perks, which means well have more diverse characters compared to any TES game before it.

your perk cap is level 50. Also there is a level cap...because there is no XP in the game the cap is when all skills are maxed. but you will not be able to get every perk with one character.

True but if theres a jail system similar to Oblivions, you can degrease your skills as you like

He was saying each skill level. If he wasn't, my bad but that's what I thought he was saying.

Pretty sure he wasn't. If you look at the skill screen, there are 8 skills shown and 5 constellations visible, and the constellations don't line up with the skills either.

Constellations are almost certainly independent of skills and fewer in number. A lore-based guess would suggest 13 constellations, which incidentally would correspond to around 5 constellations shown per 7 skills, which is a little high for the screenshot, but the constellations might just be clustered around the other skills. However, I do think it's likely that each constellation is situated near the skills it is most related to, and I would imagine that perks tend to expand skill usage and feature skill prerequisites.

I think once you reach level 50 you should start to be able to bring your primary skills and attributes past 100 with added benefits, should take a lot longer, though. It takes a very long time to get to that level, so it's well worth it.

After you reach a certain point in time, you deserve to be overpowered, and it's just fun to be overpowered knowing that you earned it ;)

I'm welcoming the lack of class system - I very seldom used the labeled classes in TES 3/4 - it was always custom class. Makes for a much more interesting character generation - you really have to think about it.

On the other hand, I suppose it is nice to have premade labels if you're not keen on the whole class creation thing - but perhaps there will be some way of saving a configuration?

From what we know V will be scaled to your level and this means spawns , loot , quests and everything .
What OB taught us is that leveling just make the game harder , so staying level 1 was the way to go.
You could stay level 1 by picking skills you never use as major.
You can no longer do that .
Developers hate when content stays hidden and how you would see armour , weapons and spells available after level X if you don't level ?
Also most TES gamers are powergamers , this means they dont care about R , this system is made for them.

You don't get perks every level. Also, it's almost impossible to get all skills to 100 due to the limit they impose on the characters leveling. They already have though ahead.

I find having a super OP character to be quite enjoyable after all the time you spend training him, exploring and dungeoneering! It feels like a satisying reward and conclusion to the story and base gameplay experience. Though that is strictly my personal preference, and from what I've read seems unpopular.

As a silver lining, Oblivion's difficulty scale ranged from having an OP character at level 1, to being a walking pincushion after stopping Mehrunes Dagon from destroying the world.

If your higher skills level up faster, does that mean it will be hardest to level up at the start?

No, in the beginning you will level up very fast allowing you to develop into what you want to become. Leveling will slow down, but more so if you go for jack of all trades (master of none) rather than a specialized one. At least that's how I've understood it.

No your high level skills cause you to get a character level up faster. Think of it like that :
- all skills start at level 1
- each time you raise a skill level, you get character XP equal to the skill level. For example, by casting fireballs you get your Destruction skill from 1 to 2, you get 1 XP. Destruction from 10 to 11 gives you 10 XP
- you need 10 XP to get to character level 2, you need 20 for character level 3, 40 for character level 4 etc...

Also, nobody said that leveling your skills would be SLOWER past level 50. They said that getting new character levels would be much slower.

So, you can level up off of any skills (they got rid of major skills and minor skills). And you get a perk every level. With no level cap.

I like this idea but won't this make every character the same? All skills to 100, all attributes to 100, and every perk. Sounds like the gear you are wearing will affect what you are not what you are classed as.

Or maybe I'm wrong because this would also mean that the journey would make your character instead of the beginning stats. I.E. (Endurance raises your HP higher etc.)

I don't know.. I'm rambling and bored. Anyone wanna do perk ideas?

From my standpoint, it's not much different in terms of how players will (ab)use it. In both Morrowind and Oblivion you could eventually become a god with everything at 100, but your choice of class would affect your starting gameplay, i.e. the first 40h while you are low level. In that time frame, you would do only what you do best, cause you svcked at everything else :) . Same thing in Skyrim: you'll want to focus on something at the beginning (to survive!) and only later become the god(dess).
The real benefit of the new system is that reaching godhood is now somewhat harder, since there are no "Misc" skills that you can use to pump attributes without increasing your level.

Now that's just a blatant lie.
