You know what Skyrim should have?

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:59 pm

So yeah, you people know what The Elder Scrolls has always missed? A really, really awesome wizard character, who is centuries old, knows all the 'craic and has a sense of humor. And no! Divayth Fyr does NOT count!

I am speaking about a REAL wizard here.
Someone with experience.
Someone who can..

SAVE THE REALMS TAMRIEL!

Kinda like everyone's favourite wizard:

Well.. *Twiddles thumbs*

Alright alright! Divayth Fyr can have a go - if he survives the Red Year - and if he is given some more lore material... But if he fails, Elminster will be right in through a transdimensional gateway!

How is Divayth Fyr not that?

He's over 4000 years old, has an immense amount of knowledge, and set up a den for corprus beasts that he lets adventurers try to ransack and restricts them to not being able to harm anything. Dude made his own wife/daughters too.

Guys, while it's OK to be a bit silly please refrain from the really off-the-wall and obviously ridiculous options or this thread will simply become a spam-fest of stupid candidates - at which point it will be locked and the worst offenders will receive official warnings.

Elminster doesn't interest me particularly, and I'm not a fan of playing a hero in a world swamped with extremely powerful characters who either apparently do nothing or get poor excuses for why they are uninvolved.

Still if I was going to nominate a powerful wizard character it would be Baladas Demnevanni, even before Divayth Fyr.

I find myself in a position to state my utter distaste for the altogether hackneyed, cliche, and outright bad writing that is the hallmark of novels and various media associated with D "n" D. A genre presided over by the "masterful" RA Salvatore.

I always thought Elminster was a bit of a naff character. Divayth's definitely edgier, and more useful to know. And he's got all those warrior daughters...

In place of a famous wizard, I think TES really needs a sinister, power-mad half-human sorcerer living in a dark tower with only his slaves and undead minions for company. And there's always the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-third-edition-throat-world-skyrim.
