Strange language in text

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 12:59 pm

I have had a problem for a couple of weeks or so and I don't know the answer. Whenever I approach containers like chests, cupboards, jewellery boxes I get the contianer word in a strange looking or ancient language. It looks like ancient elvish or norse language or something but not English. I think this is mod related as I have regularly introduced new mods over the last few weeks. I have mods like Adventurers, Meogron knights, pure immersion as well as CM companions, lineage elves, etc. What sort of mods could alter text language in game like this? I'm not sure how to copy my full mod listing here. Thanks for any help.

Use TES4Edit. You can just see which mod is overwriting the names. Get the name of one of the objects first. It should be an easy find.

This happens whenever a mod is made using a foreign-language copy of Oblivion, but in most cases you'll just the French, German names of things substituted. If it was a language using another character set, you get the characters at the same code points (hex values) in your code page, so it doesn't mean anything any more. I would guess it's a Japanese or Korean mod.

You may be able to load the mod in your own CS to have the effect reversed just by editing the affected cells.
