The Ultimate Fallout Battle

Fallout 2 for me. I played it first and it felt a bit better overall experience than Fallout 1, New Vegas comes as third (but would be competing with the originals if it didn't have the medicore action FPS gameplay base taken from Fallout 3 and TES series).

There was definitely too much over the top humor in Fallout 2, but I don't view it as a major flaw as it was not the crux of the game, it wasn't a part of the main course or point.

Fallout 3, without a doubt.

Fallout 2 was a great game, but the sense of immersion it gave me was nowhere near as powerful as Fallout 3's, and in the end that's what truly matters in my eyes. Fallout 3 made me part of the world; I'd sit on a rock and watch Fellout sunrises, and wander through the DC ruins just to explore them. I'd parkour around Megaton while listening to its music, go in and take a seat in Moriarty's and watch the flow of townspeople, wander through the spartan barracks of the Citadel and Fort Independence, and gaze at the shattered majesty of the Capitol and the Mall. FO2 couldn't offer immersion to that degree for me, and the locales of NV didn't resonate with me quite as much as the Capital Wasteland.

Calling Fallout 3 illogical yet overlooking some of the absurdly gaping plot holes in Fallout 1 and 2 is also a little silly. They've all got their storyline quirks, it's part of the charm.

Play 1, Tunninator, it's definitely the best in a lot of ways (immersion is definitely one)

Wow, its that true what my eyes are watching?, Fallout 3 taking the lead, wow times have changed

To me, It's a very sad day when more people like Failout 3 than Fallout 1/2.

Simply combine the votes for both Fallout 1 and 2. And it surpasses Fallout 3. ;)

My favourite's Fallout 1, followed closely by New Vegas, which is followed closely by Fallout 2. Then there's Fallout 3 a bit further away. :)

Oh, and I voted for Brotherhood of Steel...just because it was a possible option for someone sane enough to vote for it. :P

I put it there, so that the rare being who enjoys it could vote for it (they're like psykers, rare and weird). Just kidding.

[Intelligence] So you are saying that F1 and 2 had plotholes?

My god I hope they remove those idiotic skill and stat checks in Fallout 4... (Instead of having "[speech 70/80] Erm, it's great for constipation..." they should just be gone with the "[speech 70/80]" and only have "Erm, it's great for constipation...".)
((Right now the skill and stat checks are hand-holdings IMO. <_< ))

What absurdly gaping plot holes? Seriously, I've never noticed any plot holes as large or absurd in the previous two games as those that are found in Fallout 3.

It's interesting that you mention this, and I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just going to present my stance on immersion because it's the exact opposite of yours. To me, immersion lies in how the game world is written. I don't find NPC behaviors or graphics all that important because these aspects are just abstractions of what's really there in the first place. I care more about the writing of the world, the writing is what immerses me because the writing is not an abstraction, the writing is what really happens within the context of the setting.

If the writing is horrible I just can't be immersed in the game world... it doesn't matter how pretty it is, or how detailed the NPC behavior is. Those things are meaningless if the writing of the world is so ridiculous it feels more like Alice in Wonderland than something I could see as at least somewhat believable. My problem with Fallout 3 is that the game world felt like Alice in Wonderland, a bunch of nonsensical places and events that are there for the wow factor, and aren't given any sort of rational explanation within the context of the setting.

I voted for Fallout 3, because I enjoyed it much more than the other 3 Fallout games that I have played.

But then again, New Vegas doesn't have all of its DLC out yet, so that one might just surpass Fallout 3 in being this one's favorite.

I voted Fallout 2. It was the first one I played, and played... and played. But I have a blast playing all of them, well... except POS. I played it, I'm ashamed to say, I even bought it when it came out, but only because I was starving for another Fallout game... I mean, a starving man will eat just about anything to stay alive. Bear Grylls once drank his own urine out of a rattlesnake skin when he was out traipsing in some desert... POS is kinda like that.

I do really like the Fallout 3/NV 1st/3rd person interface, though. Man, it's immersive as hell. And if it weren't for Fallout 3, I might never have played TES, so I love it for that too.

I was in tough debate between the games. Fallout 1 had a better main quest, but Fallout 2 had more content. I put Fallout 1, because I enjoyed the Main Quest more, even if Fallout 2 was almost as good (like 1/999999999th away from being as good)

I agree with you about Fallout 1 having a better main quest and Fallout 2 having more content, but in the end, what makes me love Fallout 2 the best is the overhaul on the companion interface. I seriously think that alone makes Fallout 2 the better game because the gameplay itself just becomes drastically improved.
