Torches in Fallout 3, New Vegas and Beyond?

Why isn't a post-apocalyptic society using torches again? I was playing Oblivion and I noticed how much better light I get from a torch than I do my Pip-Boy light in the Fallout games.

Because it's not oblivion?

Why would anyone use a torch when you have a flashlight attached to your arm?

Like I said, the Pip-Boy light is insufficient. Why haven't others in these game gotten around to using torches? It seems like something that would happen.

No, not when you have around 20,000 lightbulbs just laying around a city, which still has electricity.

Why would I carry a torch around when my PiP-Boy works fine, also, turn up the brightness on your TV/Computer.

Electricity, which it should not unless people are amnning power stations and stuff.

Edit: On topic, torches make sense, they are easy to make.

Places without power would use them sure why not? Legion has those metal fire stands. Everyone else uses trash can fires. There are a number of fire pits across the Mojave. Only people I can see using torches would be tribals

How about NPCs? Surely people living in underground areas need a portable lightsource to get around. Flashlights, torches, flares. They'd be useful to spot NPCs in dark tunnels or at night.

I'd like if nights and dark places were a bit darker in vanilla, without the use of mods, and if flares and torches were put in. Torches you could make yourself, and flares you could find. You'd activate one, and hold it up in your left hand when maybe investigating dark buildings and caves, or you could have found a flashlight to attach to yourself somewhere aswell, so you can hold a two-handed weapon. And in some places, where it's not lit up from some kind of kersosene lantern or a burning barrel, there could be torches yes sure. But otherwise, most places are lit up by electricity, powered by some kind of fission battery since that's what the old world used and much of that stuff is still intact since, well, fission power lasts forever woohooo!
