If I liked FO3 will I like NV?

Post » Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:28 pm

So... I'm finding it ohhh so hard to replay through FO3 (This happens to me in all games, regardless. I know the story... I know where stuff is.. it's just not that fun to me anymore.) But I do love FO3, i'v just "done it" before.
So assuming i'd like the almost exact same experience, but different story, NPCS etc, would NV be good?

Did you love the exploring in Fallout 3 more than anything else? If so, then New Vegas will not satisfy you. You may like it, but you will find the exploration lacking.

That said, as long as you don't care about exploring, you'll probably like New Vegas. It's an improvement of Fallout 3 in pretty much every way except for the exploring.

Have you tried using mods like FWE,MMM,wasteland travelers , the game completely changes..

IF you like walking around exploring then NV is not that game... If you like storyline and different options, then play NV

im going to go ahead and give FWE a try, with some of the other mods I was previously using.

I love exploring and there is not as much satisfying exploration in FO:NV. That said and out of the way, Fallout;NV is an awesome game. The quests are awesome. Most of what you do in game matters. It's just an all around well developed game. I love it despite it not having as much exploration opportunities as FO:3. What it lacks in that aspect, it more than makes up for in other ways. Good stories, good quests, NPC's that seem to matter. It's a very good game.

Yes you will love it. You will love it so much that it will hurt. In a good way.

Good you have a PC version

Download the mod MMM, FWE/FOOK (former is for realism latter is for fun) , wasteland travellers v2 for people walking between cities , DC Interiors and maybe BOS patrols mod. The game completly changes to actual survival even at lvl30 :shocking:

P.S also try Zombie apocalypse mod

Still lotta game left to play for fallout 3

Well, IMO, yes. But it gets old- FAST. You'll be switching between Game A and Game B quite a bit with this game.

Don't expect a perfect game with NV. In my first playthrough I experienced two game breaking glitches that altered my game's ending. I'd just play something else until the patches come around.

If you liked Fallout 3 then you will most definitely like New Vegas. Theres always renting a used copy and trying it out then returning it and buying it new from somewhere else.. :o

Not for PC users, Which I take it Ninjafish is by saying he'll give FWE a go. (which is an excellent mod imo)

My thoughts are to wait until the price comes down a little bit or for a Gold edition (no offense even though I love it, I don't see this as GOTY) , I do love the story, but the world is really lacking, so it's probably best to wait until they add to it which is inevitable considering the amount of space they have left inaccessible , which is no doubt for DLC.

you should give it a try and see for yourself, i will just add as other told you in this thread, you can explore more in fo3, but that doesn't give any restriction to fo nv, for me new vegas is like a wide range area dlc, but with regards to vanilla mapping area, fo3 is larger, and most of the places in fo3 are left undiscovered even hours at game play or even just solely sticking to the main quest. Overall new vegas is a good upgrade from fo3, only with a difference approach and more mature scenario.

If you are a fan of good story writing, character develpment. If you like the idea of Damage Threshold, Reputation System and more quests, Joinable factions and real consequences for your action then yes you will enjoy New Vegas. If you only like FO3 for the FPS sandbox that it is and quests to collect teddy bears then no you will not like New Vegas.

I love NV, but lots who played only FO3 dislike it. It has an great replay value and the story/setting and new features make it an amazing game.

it actually depends on you, fo3 and NV are two opposite ropes in my opinion, granted that they share both genre. fo3 is the raw rpg, default as i describe it, NV is the upgraded version but is lacking the theme of exploration that was contained in fo3. so all in all those 2 games are in no way similar and comparable at a high stake, it is up to the eyes of the gamer to judge, otherwise, you can just give it a try playing new vegas.

You made it sound like that's all there is to fallout 3.

Even if NV is an improvement over FO3, that doesn't automatically means that FO 3 now can be considered a 'bad game'

Ah..that's just...unfortunate. I can't even imagine playing FO 3 without MMM now.

And you're right about NV though, as much as i love that game, it's very quest oriented ..to a fault. Beyond that, there's really not much to do there if you want to explore etc.

that said, there's a mod called IWS which basically increased the wasteland spawns.... nice alternative for those of us who are waiting for MMM for NV.

NV was nice but had WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more glitches. I crashed way more before even installing mods. Decent game nonetheless.. I'd still get it if I were you.
P.S. Collectors' Edition wasn't THAT great. I feel a little like I wasted 50 bucks..
