Help me with my OCD

@Miss Sparkle: Did you grab the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12296 It just came out yesterday, and is another one of Puce Moose's creations. It is good, and reminded me of Portal. Sadly, much like Portal, you don't get any cake after finishing it.

Ahh! You know what, I did see that yesterday (my nexus page opens up to the latest files page :D ) and I didn't grab it cause a: I failed to look at the mod author and b: cause I usually let the new quest mods get updated before I download them lol. I just grabbed it now cause you said his name! Thank you so much for pointing that out to me :hugs:

I believe I have everything I need now. I even found a few other goodies while I was searching around. I believe I can begin my game experience tonight and have my behind handed to me over and over again lol. The best part is that I am not going to get mad about it, cause I have so many goodies that will keep me wanting to show the wasteland who is boss and find all the treasures my game has to offer.

ok, so I am using 1 cheat, and that is my abode home...but hey, that is the reason why I made it :P

For pure fun factor, this mod is the best http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1969!

http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4483 starts you with a laser pistol in the simulation. Later you can select and energy weapon load out package.

Most realism mods (especially anything with calibr) cause me to barf up my heart, this gemstone of a mod is pure gold http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6938 .

That RH-Iron Sights mod looks really interesting, but do you know if it works with: FWE, WMK and EVE?

Well, RH Ironsights technically doesn't work with WMK; but I used them for a bit, and didn't have problems. That said, I'll test it out for a bit longer, and report back. That is, if someone else doesn't tell you before me. I don't think it works with custom textures, though.

Aww thank you EruditeDragon, but you really don't have to do that. I will just add it to the shelf for another rainy day.

While I have you here though, I left a message on the Mantis Imperative quest mod page. Did you use the "The Mantis Imperative - Radiation.esp" and have any issues with it? I didn't even see it listed in the readme file. For more information, you can read the message over there :)

Whoops, nvm, he just replied on there... he is fast!

Yes he is indeed! I'm guessing you're starting with that one first?

One thing about Puce's mods; they are not combat-intensive. There are still combats, but they aren't the focus of the mod. That being said, Mantis Imperative is a bit more combative than his other mods, though the focus is still on atmosphere. Some of the places and questlines he's made are rather eerie. They pull no punches, and actively make you think. It's a refreshing change from vanilla FO3.

Also, I seem to have passed judgement unfairly on RH Ironsights (bad dragon, bad!); I think it may still work with retextures. Strangely, though, I only get my new gun textures (btw, look on the Nexus for an author named RogueTrooperPL. He does some really nice work with weapons.) with the WMK modded versions of the guns when Ironsights is installed. I think I'll just wait for someone to make a patch.

I probably won't be starting with that one cause I am the type of person that ventures where ever my feet take me. I like to stumble on things and try to forget where the readme says to start the quests lol. I really like to immerse myself into my character and learn things as I go along... trial and error :D

RogueTrooperPL does have some really REALLY nice re-textures! I haven't downloaded any textures for weapons or armors cause I don't want to mess around with what FWE, WMK and EVE have to offer just yet. I also use the worn weapons esp provided with FWE, so finding the good guns will be hard, but I prefer it that way.

I know with the things I picked out, I am really going to have a blast! I have everything installed, ordered and defraged my computer, so I am all set to start my journey. Bet it takes 1 hour before I die :hubbahubba:

The fun thing with Moose's mods is, as far as I know, the read-me doesn't tell ya where to go. You simply stumble over something (in some cases, literally) and figure out where to go from there. As I said befor, it's a nice break from the stock game's hand-holding (which is fine, but as an explorer myself, I don't like it when a game decides to tell me exactly where to go. Often, the journey is more fun than the destination, anyhow.). If you need any help, just ask.

@ EruditeDragon - That is what I enjoy, I do enjoy a good challenge :) Sometimes you just need a break from all the fighting over and over again, and want to just do a bit of treasure hunting, or solving a situation without having to look over your shoulder every 2 sec. This sounds like it will be the best of both worlds! I know I will enjoy it :) I added you in case I do have any questions, but it might not be for awhile until I stumble across it :D Thank you so very much for being so informative and offering the help that you have so far! So very much appreciated!

@ weelillad - I have used GNR and it is a great mod for sure :D I didn't use any radio mods this time around cause I need all the concentration I can get lol. It will be going back into my game play after I finally finish this game! Thank you!

It got updated and I grabbed it :D

I made some changes to the mods I decided to use. Just editing my abode home (so it isn't so much of a cheat anymore) and then I am ready to start my game!

Same here. I was waiting for 1.01 for a while.

Problem is, Fallout's crashing now. HARD. In fact, I don't even get a title slide beforehand; just black screen -> crash notification. No idea why.

Are you using all of the esps? I can quickly test it out to see if my game crashes for you. I have a save that I use to test mods with (right at the door to exit the vault and no mods added) and I will test with the same files you are using.

I'm only using the Mantis and Jell-O .esp's. I use ART for game balance, so... Should I post my load order? Regardless, I don't know if it'll help; Fallout 3 in and of itself doesn't work.

I just tested my game and I use the same 2 as you (I didn't need the others cause I use FWE). Everything worked fine, got the radio message, 2 notes got added, and I saw the location on the map. Here is my load order if you would like to compare notes :)

Ya know Sparks, this is really sweet of you. The problem is, I can't really test this. This isn't so much a problem with saves, so much as it's a problem with the game itself.

Simply put, I can't open Fallout 3 to do much of anything. I just click on the 'Launch FOSE' button in FOMM, and watch as I get an almost immediate CTD. I also tried removing the new esp's, and nothing changed. The only new thing I added before I started crashing was a vertibird retexture mod; it's just a pluginless replacer, so I can't see why I'd have problems.

Chances are, I'll sleep on this soon, and check how it works tomorrow. If there's no improvement, I'll be posting a new topic for help.

Just in case, I would try to track down those re-textures and see if that helps. I have heard of this causing problems with G.E.C.K., so I wouldn't be surprised if it did the same thing to the game (then again, that was for an esp situation). Feel free to post your load order and/or link me to the mod re-texture and I can try to see if my game crashes as well or try to help you figure out this problem :( .

[edit] Oh, I just thought of something. Does the re-texture require a DLC that maybe you don't have?

Here's the link to the retex: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9437
I'm using the Bare Metal variant. The interesting thing here is that I already had the retexture installed; I overwrote it with itself when I noticed the Broken Steel Enclave vertibirds weren't showing with the new textures. I'll try overwriting them yet again.

Ok, I will download that and report back to you :) With a quick glance at your load order, where does EVE.esm come from? The EVE that I have, didn't come with an esm.

[edit] Which color did you download? just saw, sorry

[edit again to use this as suggested fixes for you] MMM files and then Dynamic weather files should be loaded close to last as possible. The MMM.esm should be the last esm listed.

Wow, that was fast! Gee, I sorta feel bad about this now, you've surely got better things to do then help out little ole me...

Anyhow, EVE.esm comes from EWE, which restats most of the energy weapons in the game. It uses a version of EVE as a master file.

The Bare Metal version is the one I grabbed. It's the scratched up, unpainted one.

Edit: I fiddled with what you suggested, and got nothing.

No problems, but I didn't get to see any vetbirds in my game either since I am a little ol level 2 character with this save lol. Don't feel bad, I enjoy helping out others when I can, makes me feel like I am returning help that I have received :) I do have to call it a night though, but I will check with you again tomorrow to see how you have made out so far.

I guess you have to do the old disable till you find the problem mod if you really don't want to wait (or like me, can't sleep till you get the problem solved lol).

Disable all mods. Launch via FOSE. If it still won't start, delete the FALLOUT.ini file in My Games/Fallout3. Restart the game. It will regenerate the file.

Good news! I have absolutely no idea how, but I managed to make it work again! Apparently, all it took was updating FOMM. I don't exactly get why that should change anything, but I'm not complaining. I'm back, baby!

...Ahem. Hopefully, this thread can now be brought back to it's original purpose of helping Miss Sparkle with all the mods she downloaded.

*Celebrates and throws a modded game working again party* Great news indeed! Wow, something as simple as updating FOMM, who knew lol

I have all the mods I believe I need now, so I guess this topic has served its purpose and can rest in peace :) Exciting game, here I come!

...but, feel free to use this topic to continue to suggest fun mods that really turned your game around, so that others with the same problem as me, can be be healed as well
