Getting The Bear's Attention

Prologue

In the wake of http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/2181787-1296739571.png the fate of the Mojave was decided. The Courier, http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs16/f/2007/141/a/0/Bounty_Hunter_Coloured_by_Psycho_Fish.jpg, was the decisive factor in the battle. In all that the killing and chaos, The Courier stood tall with Mr. House's securitron army at her back. When the dust cleared, the two great armies were pushed back by a third, and The Free Economic Zone of New Vegas was born.

His army in ruins and Legate dead, Caesar begins a disorganized retreat back into his territories. The Legion suffered a grievous wound that it would never recover from that day, and it was destined to be their undoing. In the years to come, Caesar would succumb to his brain tumor and his empire would splinter overnight. With their weakened army divided up among the warlords vying for power, the Legion would never again pose a serious threat to the Mojave.

Battered, exhausted, and victorious, the soldiers of the New California Republic made a collective sigh of relief. Their enemies dead at their feet and http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/759307-1294018083.jpg in the horizon, the most powerful threat to the Republic had finally been pushed out of their sight. But relief was quickly replaced with confusion toward the strange army of robots that had intervened in the battle with near perfect timing. Even more so by General Oliver reluctantly ordering a general retreat. Within a week, the last combat unit would cross into NCR territory and end the Mojave Campaign. http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/b/bc/NCR_vs_Legion.jpg, the brave soldiers of the NCR found themselves to be mere puppets in the master plan of Mr. House.

Now The Courier sits at the top of the Lucky 38. Looking down on New Vegas. Contemplating the choices she made. Imagining her place in Mr. House's vision for a new world.

Though these events were tremendous in both importance and effect. They were the background to many interesting happenings across the wasteland. The most significant being the actions of a man from the town of Primm. Proving that not everything goes according to plan.

Ch.1: At Battle's End

Nita limped alongside Boone who was doing his best to hold her up despite the weight of the power armor she was wearing. Around them, four of Mr. House's securitrons were acting as their escort back to the Lucky 38. Which was taking much longer than expected. A lot of Nita's blood was coming out of the breaches in her power armor.

"I would have expected you back at the Lucky 38 by now. Is there a problem?", said a securitron whose face had suddenly turned into Mr. House.

"Yes. My wounds are more severe than I thought. I'm going to have to go to the Followers of the Apocalypse. There's a friend I can trust there."

"Hmm. That could be...problamatic. Riots broke out in Freeside during the battle at Hoover Dam. The Kings and NCR peacekeeping forces worked together to suppress the riots, but there were many wounded. I would expect the Followers are tasked to capacity at the moment. Even if they could help you, I have less than ideal relations with them. What's to stop them from killing you under the knife? I can easily acquire a physician for you."

"Like I said Mr. House, I have a friend there."

"Very well. It would be very inconvenient if my new lieutenant died first day on the job.", stated Mr. House before the securitron returned to normal and went back into formation.

"I know what you said to your boss, but how are you really feeling?", asked a suspicious Boone.

"Real [censored] bad.", responded Nita. "...Boone...Why are you still here with me?"

"What?"

"I've betrayed the NCR. I didn't even tell you about my intentions. I just did it right in front of you. A real soldier of the NCR would have shot me right then and there. Hell, I almost wanted you to do it. The decision I made there is going to haunt me my whole life."

"Nita...I've seen you do amazing things everywhere you go. Without you...I would never have been able to let go what happened to Carla. You gave me my life back...And you gave me the chance to put a bullet in that damn Legate's head, but that was just a bonus. You've only done good by me. I'm not going to start doubting you now. Besides I'm not an NCR soldier anymore, remember."

"Heh, that means a lot Boone. I...Really...Need...Friends............." Nita collapsed onto the ground bleeding out. Boone got on his knees trying to turn her on her back to see what he could do before a securitron single-handedly lifted her up in its arms as if she was light as a feather with her power armor on. Boone could barely keep up as the securitrons sped away toward New Vegas.

Fortification Hill

The Fort had been set ablaze by the merciless surprise attack of Mr. House's securitrons. Legionaries and slaves alike were fired upon in the attack. Caesar barely escaped with his life at the cost of his praetorian guard who threw themselves at the attacking robots while Caesar fled. Their main focus being the Legate's cohort of 480 legionaries attacking the dam, the securitrons hastily destroyed their primary targets and moved on without thoroughly sweeping the area. Leaving several groups of survivors who were then ordered by Caesar to retreat, considering the Legate and cohort lost.

"The Legate is dead. I saw it with my own eyes.", said a legion explorer to a prime legionary as they watched The Fort burn in the distance.

"So dies the Monster of the East.", the prime legionary wistfully said. His focus clearly on the flames. "What tribe were you from explorer?"

"I was a mere child when I was in the Twisted Hairs Tribe. Why do you ask brother?"

"I remember when we marched on Fort Aradesh. The soldiers of the NCR didn't know who we were. They had never encountered people dressed like us, who moved like us, who fought like us. We butchered them all and set the fort aflame. It reminded me of my tribe burning to the ground. Caesar burned your village as well correct?"

"You hold your tongue!"

"Now Caesar's great fort burns with the fire of all our tribes as one. All our gods of old have had their revenge. They have delivered defeat to their destroyer. My people finally rest."

"You blaspheme the word of Caesar! I shall see you put on the cross heretic!"

"The machine soldiers will see to that for you. They are returning as we speak." The legionary pointed toward the glowing lights of the TV screen faces that circled The Fort. Mr. House had redeployed half his securitron army to insure Caesar's Legion was completely uprooted and as far away from the Hoover Dam as possible. And a squad of three were approaching the two legionaries right now.

"Curse those metal demons!" The legion explorer fired two shots from his hunting rifle to no effect, and fled. He would not get very far.

"Exterminating all enemy combatants!", shouted the lead securitron.

"You're too late. I already died at Scorpion Gourd.", whispered the legionary before they opened fire.

West Side of Hoover Dam

"All NCR personnel are required to vacate the Hoover Dam immediately.", repeated the securitrons in a 30-second loop.

The wounded were everywhere outside the Hoover Dam Visitor Center. Medics worked tirelessly to treat them despite a shortage in medicine and supplies, but the fact the securitrons already evicted most of the able-bodied soldiers was the most difficult obstacle. Everyone was nervous about the robots with grenade launchers constantly telling them to leave, but without help the wounded could be here for days and no one knew how much patience these securitrons had.

"Will someone tell those things to shut the [censored] up!", whined a soldier who was stabbed in the leg and had yet to receive a signal dose of med-x.

"We simply must be allowed access to the dam again. You didn't give us a chance to make sure we got all our wounded out.", reasoned one of the medics to a securitron.

The securitron turned and looked at him as if it heard what he said, before disappointingly repeating, "All NCR personnel are required to vacate the Hoover Dam immediately."

"But we have war dead to retrieve! They're strewn across the battlefield! We can't leave them for the vultures!"

"Terminated combatants are being disposed of. You are required to leave.", responded the securitron.

"Hold up!", said a ranger veteran who came up from behind the medic. "What do you mean combatants are being disposed of? How!"

"All terminated combatants are being disposed of via the dam."

"What does that mean!", questioned the increasingly enraged ranger.

"All bodies are being tossed off the dam into the Colorado."

"MY SISTER IS ON THAT DAM!!!", the ranger veteran screamed as he raised his assault carbine up to the securitrons face.

"All violence will be met with lethal force.", said the securitron. Three other securitrons quickly rolled up, surrounding the ranger and medic. When he failed to lower his rifle, the securitrons hands transformed into their 9mm submachine guns. Their threat also being their final warning.

"For the love of god! You're trying to threaten a machine!", criticized the medic. "It can't be afraid. They don't have emotions! I'm trying to convince them that if they want us to leave faster they have to let us handle our people."

After thinking for a moment, the ranger lowered his gun and relaxed. The securitrons dispersed and resumed repeating their message. The medic held the ranger's shoulder as the body language beneath the mask clearly showed he was distressed. All of them knew too many soldiers were left behind. Dead or alive, they were family.

"You know what! [censored] it!", said the ranger who tossed his guns on the ground and started walking toward the dam.

"What the hell are you doing Ranger Green!", screamed one of the other Ranger Veteran's.

"I have to get Becky! No guns, no reason to shoot me!"

Other soldiers would try to get him to come back, but it was useless. He wasn't the ranger who chewed nails and spit napalm anymore. He was just a little brother looking for his sister, and he was scared.

Despite all the warnings the securitrons were making, nothing was happening to the ranger. Everyone watched him like a hawk as he began checking the bodies strewn across the dam. Everything was fine until a securitron dragging three bodies approached him. They were too far away to hear what they were saying, but by the rangers hand gestures he was arguing fiercely with the robot. Suddenly the securitron's hand transformed into its 9mm submachine gun and fired several bursts into the ranger.

The soldiers went into an uproar when they saw the unarmed ranger dead on the ground. Another ranger veteran fired his anti-material rifle at the securitron immediately. The .50mg round punched a deep hole into the titanium alloy armor, but nothing less than a mini-nuke would be able to make a one-hit kill on a Mk II securitron. A fact the rangers had yet to learn. The screens of every securitron outside the visitor center turned red as they formed a fire line in front of all the wounded NCR soldiers.

"You have failed to vacate the Hoover Dam. Crowd dispersal will commence in 10...9...8..."

"Oh my god they're going to kill us!", screamed a wounded trooper.

Every soldier both wounded and able-bodied who could hold a gun started shooting at the securitrons which were just standing still, counting down to zero. Only two of the robots were destroyed by the gunfire when the time was up.

"...2...1...0...Commencing crowd dispersal." The securitrons opened their missile ports and unleashed hell on the wounded NCR soldiers. It was wholesale slaughter.

Two minutes after the countdown, securitrons were putting a bullet in each corpse to make sure they were all dead. Over forty people were dead outside the Visitor Center, and two squads of corpse collectors had come had come from other parts of the dam. Huge trails of blood were made as each securitron dragged four bodies behind them. It took only five minutes for puddles of blood to be all that was left.

After this incident, every securitron stationed at the dam received a directive to terminate all remaining NCR survivors on sight. Groups of wounded and prisoners already gathered were executed immediately, and from distant corners of the dam screams were followed by submachine gun fire until their was only silence.

Only two securitrons were still on guard at the west end of the dam. The priority command was now corpse disposal, and with only dead people at the dam, guards were more of a formality. An all clear signal was brodcasted directly to Mr. House who moments later provided a rather morbid directive to all securitrons. He had waited two hundred years for this moment and would allow himself to indulge in one final petty insult to his enemies. Every blood splattered securitron dragging a corpse started playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejOVyBS042k&feature=related.

Mormon Fort

The Followers of the Apocalypse were overwhelmed by the number of people seeking shelter at the Mormon Fort. Their food stores were used up within hours and if it weren't for Major Elizabeth Kieran leaving her food and medical aid behind for them, most of these people would be dead.

On the streets of Freeside fires had broken out during the riot, but both the Kings and Securitrons were dealing with them. The NCR had already been forced out of Freeside at this point. A few of the Kings objected, having some newfound respect for the NCR after they started working together, but they weren't in a position to stop anything.

"Save the med-X for the most critical patients! Anyone who will live but is in pain gets a stimpak! I want guards protecting the chem supplies, we have druggies with us! Where the hell is Gannon!?", ordered Julie Farkas to each doctor that approached her.

"Ma'am, Dr. Gannon is performing surgery.", informed one of the Follower Guards.

Julie Farkas walked into Arcade's tent and found him sitting on a stool in the corner. His gloves and lab coat were caked in blood and he wore a blank stare. In the middle of the tent there was body with a bloody blanket over it.

"Four hours of surgery. If I had gotten this bullet out ten minutes sooner, she would be alive.", Arcade said holding a deformed lump of lead.

"We need you. Half of Freeside is out their and you're our best doctor. I know you aren't a people person but..."

"I'm very tired. Besides. I've only been killing people today. No more surgeries."

"Then bandage people! Look for wounded in the streets! Get more food! Do something! No one is going to be sleeping for three days! Now stop [censored]ing and get to work!", screamed the normally calm and collected Julie Farkas.

"Dr. Farkas!", said a Follower Guard who was gasping for breath. "Mr. House is here!"

Outside, a huge group of securitrons forced their way through the gate and had gathered within the Mormon Fort. The refugees backed away as far back as they could. Terrified of the securitrons they saw massacre the rioters. Among the securitrons was a unit with the face of Mr. House.

"Mr. House?", asked Julie Farkas. "Why are you here? Leave us in peace. Half the wounded here have your bullets in them."

"I can assume you are the one in charge.", said Mr. House towering over Julie in his securitron. "You will be receiving a V.I.P. as a patient shortly. You will prioritize your resources to their treatment. 8,000 caps will be provided as compensation upon the recovery of said V.I.P."

"We have no interest in helping you in any way. You will leave, now!", ordered Julie before walking away from Mr. House.

"I do not need your approval.", replied Mr. House. "I only require the services of one Arcade Gannon. Is he present?"

"Why do you need me?", said Arcade in a very disrespectful tone. The only person he despised more than Mr. House was Caesar himself and things were looking like Mr. House was getting to be in charge of everything.

"Because she asked for you specifically."

"...She...", said Arcade. He realized who he was talking about immediately, but he couldn't understand why Mr. House would ask him to help her. Arcade assumed Nita was fighting for the NCR, or even an independent New Vegas. Nita should be Mr. House's enemy. With things the way they were, Arcade even considered the possibility she had died. "What does this mean?", he whispered.

"I would suggest you make your decision quickly. According to my securitrons, Ms. Ogden's condition is critical."

"Alright! Alright...I'll help."

"Very good. Seeing how this...shelter...is in such a dilapidated condition, I am redirecting Ms. Ogden toward the New Vegas Clinic. She will arrive there in two minutes. Gather what you need. A securitron escort will see to your safe passage. Good luck, doctor.", with that the securitron returned to normal.

When Arcade arrived at the New Vegas Clinic several securitrons were stationed outside. A row of bodies were lined up outside the clinic, most of them holding weapons in their cold dead hands. They were rioters, opportunistic thugs, and a few innocents looking for help. People knew the clinic had plenty of chems and supplies. The less than friendly among those people wanted to ransack the place and maybe take a few of the doctors hostage to ransom out when things calmed down. Mr. House killed them all and even went as far as to remove the other patients already there, demanding that his lieutenant get the full attention of the doctors. Arcade was disgusted by the sight of a child among the dead.

After being permitted to enter, Arcade found Nita was already undressed and on the operating table. When the doctors opened her power armor, there was a worrisome amount of blood inside. Even worse was the gapping wound that started below her left briast and cut all the way diagonally to the right hip from a slash of the Legate's sword. If it had cut any deeper, Nita would have disemboweled. The fact that a sword could cut through like this on a person wearing advanced power armor was a testament to the Legate's monstrous strength.

"Thank god you're here!", said Dr. Usanagi. "We've given her several stimpaks already but she's fading fast."

"Why isn't she being operated on?", asked Arcade.

"We only just finished setting up, but frankly this isn't my specialty and the other doctors aren't surgeons.", explained Usanagi.

Arcade looked down upon his only friend and did his best to keep himself from breaking down. So many people had died in his care tonight and it made him doubt his ability to save her. If she died...he just didn't know.

"Arcade, is there anything that can be done?", asked Boone who seemed to come out from the shadows.

"Boone...I don't know! I just don't know!", he said as he started to sob.

"What the hell is wrong with with you! Nita talked as if you were the best damn doctor in the wasteland! If she can live through being shot in the head, then she can survive this! She's doing half the work for you! Now man up and FIX HER!!!", screamed Boone knocking down an oxygen tank.

Both men were reaching their breaking point. Boone had been around explosions all damn day with legionaries making suicide charges on him, and Arcade has only seen one person after another put their lives in his hands only to die because of his failure. Arcade took off his glasses and covered his face under his hands trying to compose himself as death was surrounding him. Just when he felt the weight of everything crushing him, something in his brain just...kicked in.

"I'm going to need mentats. Lots...And...Lots of mentats.", said Arcade in a new calm demeanor. Normally Arcade knew better than to abuse chems, but this was something he couldn't afford to fail.

Arcade worked for six hours without stopping. It took some doing to stop the bleeding, but it seemed like it could have been too little too late. Nita needed a blood transfusion, impossible to administer in these conditions making the situation even worse. Once the wound was finally sutured, and a super stimpak was wrapped to both of Nita's arms and legs, Arcade had done everything he could. When he emerged, gloves and coat once again covered in blood, he sat on the nearest chair hunched over and exhausted.

"Did she make it?", asked Boone hesitantly. To which Arcade softly nodded. "Damn good job."

"It's not enough."

"What?", Boone said with a hint of anger.

"I did everything right. The operation was a success...and it's not enough. Her vitals just keep dropping."

"What will happen now?", asked Dr. Usanagi.

"What happens now is you save her life."

"Wha-What? How?", said a confused Usanagi.

"A http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Monocyte_Breeder. That implant is the only thing that can save her. You're a specialist. This is what you do."

"But she wont survive another surgery! It will kill her!"

"Dr. Usanagi...She's going to die anyway. This will give her a chance." Dr. Usanagi listened and was quiet for a while before nodding and gathering what she needed.

It was now 7 o'clock on the day after the battle. Order had been restored to New Vegas, and her streets were once again quiet. Music played on the street as always. Except this time there were no people outside to hear it. Fighting had ended on all fronts, with the completed retreat of Caesar's Legion and the cease-fire order imposed on the NCR. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/imageshare/images/2348378-1297368885.jpg.

Mr. House had carved out his small empire in the Sierra Nevadas and the long power struggle between the many factions was finally concluded. Though the killing had stopped for now, the ripple effect from these events hadn't even begun to start.

Nita moaned as she woke up on the operating table. She had a blanket over her to cover her body seeing as all her clothes were covered in blood. When she opened her eyes, she found Arcade sitting on a chair next to her. He looked tired, but he had stayed right next to her for hours.

"Hi...Arcade. I think we won."

"So it seems...How do you feel?"

"Like [censored]."

"Heh Heh, yeah. I would suspect you do."

A excellent show of the immediate aftermath following Hoover Dam. You did a perfect job showing the breaking down of law and order, and the chaos it was bringing, while also showing the final moments of the NCRr and Legion.

Thhis one Ill be following any chance I get.

Ch.2: Hard Times Ahead

"Well command just verified the order. We're withdrawing from Primm.", informed Lt. Hayes while addressing his men.

"What the hell! I just finish getting these people in line and now we're just leaving!", complained Sgt. McGee.

"The battle at the dam four days ago didn't go so well. General "Wait and See" Oliver has called a full withdrawal. Forlorn Hope and Searchlight are pulled out, McCarran's almost done, Bitter Springs already abandoned their refugees, Helios One is empty, and now it's our turn."

"What do we tell the people, sir?", asked a concerned corporal.

"Nothing for now. It will just cause a panic. Sgt. McGee, you'll inform them once we're ready to roll out. You're the sheriff after all."

"Yeah yeah! Just one more [censored] thing to do."

None of the men really liked the whole situation. Going back home sounded nice, but they had achieved so little here. Powder Gangers still run wild along the Long-15. They sat on their asses when convicts took over the town. Now they were leaving without doing anything for Primm but collect taxes. They had nothing to be proud about.

It wasn't long before the people of Primm started noticing something was wrong. Sgt. McGee and his men were no longer patrolling, and the tents the troopers slept in were being dismantled. They had heard on Radio New Vegas that the NCR was leaving the Mojave, but Primm was now part of the Republic. Surely the withdrawal did not apply to them. Johnson Nash decided to speak with the soldiers to ease everyone's minds.

"Where is lieutenant uh...What was his name?"

"Hayes. Lieutenant Hayes. How can I help you?"

"Hello, I'm just here because some of the folks are getting a bit worried. With all that nasty business on the radio, they're afraid you're leaving with the rest of the army. I just wanted to clear things up and know what is going on."

"Heh Heh Heh, I can imagine how bad it looks.", said Lt. Hayes with a smile. "There's nothing to be worried about. I'm mobilizing some of the men to get back to command. We're getting supplies to settle down here more permanently. This camp has to come down to build the new one after all. With the NCR leaving everywhere else, we want to plant the flag really hard at Primm."

"Oh, that's good to know."

"Sergeant McGee is going to address the town soon. Let everyone know."

"Well...Alright then...Thank you.", replied Nash. He was still unsure, but he decided to take their word for it.

An hour later, the troopers were all packed up and ready to go at anytime. The whole town had gathered in front of the Bison Steve Hotel for the announcement, and Lt. Hayes saw no point in delaying this any further. He sent Sgt. McGee and two other troopers to deliver the news. It wasn't going to be pleasant for anybody.

Just after he delivered his orders, a courier escorted by two ranger veterans ran up from the road and said he had a top priority message for the commanding officer of this detachment. Lt. Hayes didn't know what to think. Orders that were too sensitive to be given over the radio, AND requiring ranger escort! Was he a general all of a sudden? He took the sealed message from the courier and began carefully reading it.

"People of Primm. The NCR wishes to inform you that it can no longer provide protection for your community.", announced Sgt. McGee to the crowd.

"WHAT!!!", screamed an outraged member of the crowd who was followed by a complete uproar from the rest of the townspeople.

"We paid your taxes! Followed your laws! Now your leaving us after taking what you want!"

"You are now free of any previous obligations and taxes.", continued Sgt. McGee despite the protests. "We sincerely apologize on behalf of the NCR for our failure and intend to leave you compensation upon our departure."

"Go [censored] yourself!", screamed someone in the crowd before a brick hit Sgt. McGee's helmet and knocked him down.

The two troopers with McGee immediately fired their weapons, making sure to shoot above the crowd's heads. People started screaming and the crowd dispersed very quickly. No one was hurt thanks to the restraint of the troopers, but they had clearly over stayed their welcome. After getting the sergeant up, the group retreated to the makeshift bridge over to their side. It was doubtful the townspeople were bold enough to attack a military detachment, but it would be for the best if they left as soon as possible.

"Sir, the townspeople know and they are not happy! Can we go home! Now!"

"Read this", said Lt. Hayes with a very serious expression on his face.

5th Battalion 1st Company:

As part of an ongoing executive approved operation, you are to follow these instructions to the letter or face severe disciplinary action.

---Commence your withdrawal from the township of Primm.
---Rendezvous with NCR Rangers at coordinates provided.
---Establish a base of operations on site.
---Maintain radio uplink with command after construction of base camp.
---This is a covert operation. Maintain secrecy at all costs.

All soldiers involved will continue their tour of duty indefinitely until further notice. Pensions will be increased upon completion of the operation. The Republic honors your service and sacrifice.
- Senator Visha Cole of New Arroyo

Sgt. McGee sat on the ground unexpectedly quiet. They thought he was going to knock down a building, so this response was a pleasant alternative. Then to everyones surprise, a guy they thought only knew how to be pissed off and less pissed off, started to cry under his goggles.

"*sob* I...I was supposed...*sob*...see my mom. She's all alone in The Hub...*sob*...A 55 year old woman alone in the [censored] Hub! Damn it if we didn't need the money I would still be there. What if some punk just stabs her. *sob*"

"Jesus. Didn't think the sarge was a momma's boy.", said a trooper before the guy next to him slapped him across the back of his head.

Lt. Hayes knelt in front of McGee and sighed. It was hard to find the right words. "We all need to get home sergeant. All for different reasons. You have to take care of your mother, I got a girl and kid to get back to. Promised I'd marry her when I got back. Says our little girl needs a father and she's right. Now we're all waiting together aren't we?"

"Y-Yeah...I guess we're all waiting.", said Sgt. McGee who was pulling himself together.

"Now start being the ass we've all gotten used to okay.", joked Hayes as he pulled McGee up.

"[censored] this town! Lets get out of here!", screamed McGee who had returned to his normal self.

The company finished its hasty retreat from Primm and headed into the rocky cliffs once they were out of sight from the town. There camp would be a short ways west of Primm with a good view of the town. What they didn't know was that they were expected to set up camp on the most barren, sun blasted, god forsaken mesa in the Mojave. Only finding solace in the fact a few rangers were going to share in their misery.

The prospects for the people of Primm were equally grim. Without the NCR's protection, the town was more vulnerable than ever. The compensation provided by the NCR was just 2,000 dollars of NCR paper money. Which was worth only a few hundred caps in the Mojave. The townspeople were insulted that this could even be called compensation. Their town was finished.

Without any resistance, a single squad of securitrons occupied the town and incorporated Primm into the Free Economic Zone of New Vegas. Unable to refuse their demands, the people of Primm once again accepted new protection. Mr. House would come to impose heavy taxes on the people and threaten them with violence if these taxes were not payed. Making an already difficult situation almost unbearable for the impoverished residents. Citing their willingness to accept and support the NCR as the reason for this harsh punishment. Suffice it to say, hard times were ahead for everyone.

Extremely well written and interesting story. It's also nice to see Mr. House acting more shrewdly then in most fanfics.

I just got to this as I haven't been on in a while, but anyway, well written scholar! I'm not as interested in New Vegas Fan-Fics but this one is actually really good. Of course, I like the crusader better because I'm biased to Fallout 3 :P Good story, Scholar.

A well written story.

Now though, all I want to see is the Courier and Mr. House catch NCR's vengeance in the teeth. If the Brotherhood couldn't stand up to them, some glorified computer and a greedy mercenary in some podunk city state with delusions of grandeur sure as hell won't.
