you're arguing semantics.

The ranking system you are talking about, has to do with matchmaking. Since we aren't even discussing that, it is obvious what is meant when I say "ranking system."

there is no "I" in team

But there is a me. :D lol

I never look at score boards, and we people slag me for having a bad K/D, all I have to say is "Dude, It's a game" or "Whats your point?" and I end up the as the ultimate winner.

Indeed, there's also a Mat, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't make me any more important :frog:

Halo 2 & 3 didn't have a leaderboard and was pretty competitive. (Idk about Halo 1 since I didn't play the PC version)

You guys sound like a bunch of overly PC borderline communists. My inner objectivist weeps. Of course it's a team game, but every team has an MVP.

I don't know if SD has flat out said that there won't be leaderboards of any kind, but even if they have I'll be shocked if there aren't any.

The only time i look at leaderboreds intentonally is when i compare stats with freunds once in awhile or when i see what place im in , in nazi zombies, when i compare stats wuth freinds its almost always nazi zombies anyways. Stats is how many rounds you survived, which is really what i care about, i dont care about the kills kr points. Also im not at the top because i dont have time to play NZ for hours apon hours non stop, once you get to about round 50 the rounds last like a hour, who said i cant make it that far?! Yea? Well screw you!

Actually they have, and this has been said a few dozen times in the forums from my count.

Basically, leaderboards serve no other purpose then to boost one's own ego.
If you really wanna compete, then im sure you can link up with a team on game battles or something like that, and play against other teams looking for some sort of ranking. Then you know whose won the most competitive games, and against which teams. Anything other than that, like kills, plants, revives, captures, etc, are pointless and only serve to satisfy the needs of the non-teamwork oriented ego maniacs, who i honestly would love to see play brink because they would probably lose most of their games.

Besides, leaderboards, espically extensive ones like cod uses, are pointless to me and are total wastes of time and effort. Im happy SD didnt want to make leaderboards, because they could focus even more time on making sure brink was a highly entertaining game with a balanced multiplayer perfectly suited for competitive gaming.

I'm looking for FPS with world ranking. No CoD or BBC.

Nothing to see here, then. Move along.

with any luck REVO will pop in and post links to multiple threads to confuse you. :)

I won't even bother. This seems so pointless here.

Some people need to learn that topping a leaderboard isn't an indication of skill, but an indicationt that you have too much time on your hands.

There isn't a personal stat in the world that should place any player above another except "I beat you in a match", and there is no "I" in team, so that stat is pretty much useless too.

If I walk into a game with 7 randoms and we beat a group of 8 other randoms, what's there to rank?

Leaderboards are the past, teamwork is the now, winning is the future. Don't get stuck in the past.

THIS!
Is right on the money.
Think of it this way...
They want teamwork, not 8 loners against 8 loners... SO what fuels loners? Stats, K/D, Ranking....Okay, getting rid of this and making all the "points" a passive deal would support teamwork

By passive I mean: The points are for yourself, not My points VS HIS points

What makes a team MVP is generally not a collection of stats, and certainly not a collection of stats compiled from other games. What makes a player MVP is what they do in that game, but with a dynamic like Brink has for you to claim an MVP based on stats it means you have to decide that certain things are more important than others, as well as being able to determine what lead to what.

MVPs on a team are subjective because even if Player 1 gets the most points it doesn't mean he did the most for the team to win, it means he did the most things to earn points, which again leads to players doing things specifically for the points.

Say you've got a player running around healing everyone (good team play) and that earns him a lot of points because healing earns a ton of points. Does he deserve to be the MVP? Maybe, but what about the guys on the frontline playing the part of suppression, absorbing damage to keep the focus off the medic and earning kills (which supposedly doesn't net them as much in the way of points) or the sniper that keeps taking out the guy who is targeting that medic? Who's to say which player is "Most Valuable" when the value of each player is in more than just the stats they record.

Hi everyone,

I was #9 world wide on Killzone 3, but because of a glitch (Double XP unlimited with a voucher) that Guerilla Game isn't able to resolve, I preferred to stop playing because I didn't have this glitch & I had to playing 2 times more than them & I didn't find it just.

So, I wonder if there will be a world ranking & games "bodycount" only.

I'd an answer quick & easy for know if I pre-order Brink or not.

Thank's in advance.

Prove yourself in competitive leagues. Regular servers are "pubs" because it's all casual gamers. Join up a team or 1v1 league and let's see what you are REALLY ranked ;) in Brink

1 v. 1 in Brink sounds a bit stupid.

I agree... This isn't a game where you prove dominance by self, but through teamwork! YEA *Que 90's inspirational music, jump in air high five...STILL FRAME*

It's pretty ballsy (and wrong) to assume that pub servers are nothing but casuals. Players of all skill levels play on pub servers, even competitive gamers who play in leagues.

You're correcet
But if people who do play for the rank are on, they usually make a clan. Though we http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1174864-average-gamer-age-for-brink/page__pid__17368467__st__100#entry17368467 have made a team, we didn't make a clan which is another option for people who intend to play brink for competition

When I hear MGLs talking about pub-servers, they either use the words "warm up" or "own noobs" in the same sentence.
