System RAM

Post » Sat May 07, 2011 6:33 am

Hey, I have a rather stupid question. The minimum system requirements for the game show it as 1GB of ram, and I have 1GB, but some of it is allocated, so it comes up as saying I have 896 MB when I look at my system. I'm going to buy some more on payday, but I was wondering if it'd run right now as is. I mean, I know it'll run pretty slow (if at all), but I was wondering if someone had a definitive answer. Thanks!

It'll run, but you'll definitely notice the difference when you drop in more RAM.

I'm assuming, of course, that the rest of your system meets or exceeds the minimum requirements,

RAM is generally a minor problem, since buying more is cheap in most countries and installing it is easy. Problems arise especially when your processor is lacking, or that you need a considerable graphics card boost.

Alright, thanks you guys that's all really helpful. I usually play xbox360, and I'm embarassed to say it but I realized I know next to nothing about computers. I'm not quite sure how this ignorance went on so long...

Ask friends and family for help in computer matters, they can possibly give you help and tips regarding these matters.

It's actually pretty ironic, my uncle owns a computer repair business, and so does my girlfriend's dad. The thing is, my uncle hates me, and admitting to your future father in law that you don't know something is a recipe for some verbal abuse for sure. One friend told me I need 16gb of ram, and one told me to get a mac.

Hence, I ran to you guys =)

I'm running it just fine on 4 Gb. If you don't have a 64-bit operating system, anything above 4Gb is a waste anyway.

As a side note - obviously you know your future father-in-law better than I do, but if he's going to give you a bunch of crap over something like that, you'll likely have bigger problems with him down the road. Just sayin'.
