Graphics tablet

Hi chums,

I was thinking about investing in a Drawing Tablet. However, as with anything you're about to spend a substantial amont of cash on, I'd like some information.

We'll start at the top;

1. What brand would you recommend?

2. How big? ( A4, A6 ?)

3. How much should I spend? I'd like something that's accurate and comes with decent software.

4. And lastly, Is it a worthwhile purchase for an amateur artist? or should I stick to pencils.

I'm willing to spend enough to get me something decent. I've been looking at these Wacom Intuos. They're getting strong reviews, thoughts?

All help is appreciated :nod:

Thanks!

So far the only tablet capable of drawing utilities is Asus EP121. Freaking expensive and freaking state of the art for tablet.

You will need external storage for keeping your works, with 64GB SSD for its largest option, you can only install a few powerful applications. It's on pre-order in Amazon.com and will deliver on late Feburary in the States.

My sister bought a one from japan. I tried to draw a circle and failed miserably. It took a while for her to master but her art with it is getting better. So while it might save you bothering with pencils there is a learning curve.

I think you misunderstand what type of tablet they're after...

I may buy an Intuous when I get my tax return, so there's my vote for that. I want to get the medium (or whichever one is USD $349.99) one since I'm only starting with digital art. I deal mostly with pens and pencils. It'll go nicely towards my concept art.

I also have a Wacom Intuos. I've had a different brand and it just didn't compare... the tablet I had before I had to press down HARD to get anything to show up.
Wacom tablets have great pressure sensitivity, I want to say it's very fluid. I agree they are worth the extra cash. You'd definitely be pleased.

The Wacom Graphire Series, or Wacom Bamboo is a good beginners tablet. You can get one for >$100. I started with this, but it wasn't too long before I made the switch to an Intuos.

I got a Wacom Bamboo for christmas, and Its good enough for me, the only thing I could think to make it better would be a screen, the size is fine and it feels respnsive enough, at least for my minor art skills :D
