The mods i make wont work

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:32 am

my personal mods will not work though i can use other peoples mods that i download.
Problem #1 The files are invisible when i look for them in Oblivion/Data though i can access them through TES Construction set and oblivion recognizes them in data files when i start the game. (But my personal mods do not Show up in the game though other peoples mods do show up)
Problem #2 if i want to make a mod and put just one premade object into the area and save the game when i close out of TES construction Set it says
Warning: ! ModelLoader still has 2 Nif Files
Warning: ! 1 - furnituremarker14.nif
Warning: ! 1 - furnituremarker03.nif

My comp is windows vista home edition i have the latest patch of oblivion and the newist TES construction Set

i have reinstalled it to a place outside of program files

I am not even creating something new and yet this still happens. i am getting really annoyed because i made a cool mod and i cant play it I can only play other peoples mod. any help would be great Thanks

OK, well I'm on win7, but here goes nothing!

First of all, I can't quite help the invisible mod problem. That's more to do (i think) with Vista.

Second, when saving, I get the same notice. I think the option is "Yes to all" / "No to all". Try one of them, it should work, even though it sounds like something you shouldn't do, it ends up being OK.

As long as the Oblivion Launcher program (the one that has the Data files) option can find the mods, its OK.
Sometimes, when you delete mods, they will still appear in the Data Files list. You can't fix this -- wait until the list is very very big, then uninstall Oblivion, and re-install.

That should help!

I used to use Vista and had your problem. Good news is it was really easy to fix. Bad news is I don't quite recall how..

Try setting it to run as administrator (I assume you know how to do that). Not running programs in admin mode gives a lot of Vista users grief and, as TES CS makes changes to your C drive, it needs to have administrative privileges.

Let me know if this works. If that isn't it, I'll try and dig up how I sorted it.

Try uploading it to an installation site, and then installing it like you would someone elses mod.

I use Vista, so far I've no problems with the cs *knocks on wood*. Try turning off the user account control. I have had it on and in the cs when you go to save it basically says, sorry can't do. I saved the Oblivion files to 'program files' and have no issue but I know other people have. Let us know if you get things working and what you did to fix it.

Oh and the other message "Warning: ! ModelLoader still has 2 Nif Files" is just telling you the cs hasn't loaded all the nif's. Click on no and you'll exit with no problem.
