Fallout 3 and Windows 7

So I decided after constant freezes and crashes to do a fresh install of Fallout 3. Mentioning this just in case it may of had an impact. Had installed K-lite basic before the uninstall. Anyways removed fallout and all mods/save games fose and what not. Reinstalled the game which went smooth for the most part. (it was slow). Anyways when I started the game the first time it had to do the updates for the patches through live, since live was fully updated it did not make me do the stupid multiple starts to update Live itself.

So now thats its installed and updated to 1.7 I noticed something when the game started after the patch, the desktop composition was turned off. Now this doesn't seem like a big deal, but I also noticed on a second start (after having played for an hour+ freeze/crash free) that it no longer did that.

Recommendation is to disable the Desktop Composition in the Shortcut used to run the game. I haven't fully tested it due to the limited time but I figured this may help someone. I'll post updates related to this as I test more this evening.

Strangely enough the longest Fallout 3 session I had was with aero and desktop composition disabled, almost eight hours without a crash, I never followed up on it though, good luck testing, this game is filthy with crashes.

Update, been playing FO3 and haven't crashed in two hours of play time. (or froze which was my issue that plague me from the start, roughly every 10-20 mins I'd hit a freeze)

So basically I do run modded with all the DLC's

basically run:
Fook 2 1.1 with hot fixes
Project Beauty HD with Fook patches
Exnem replacer
Jessi
Kelsey
Natural weather
And misc texture replacers

I do use FOSE and making a shortcut and using both compatability xp SP3 and disable the Desktop Composition seems to help, now to see if it improves oblivion as well
