Law Enforcement (Guards)

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 6:40 am

I have a feeling that the law and order that we saw in Oblivion is going to be overhauled to something of a hybrid between Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Minor towns won't have any guards but if you wrong someone expect most of the villagers to defend their land depending on how high their despostion is or Responsibilty or something similar to the two that I mentioned. Bigger cities might have Nord Guards who might be similar to what Oblivion had but it could be similar to Fallout 3. I think it's going to be a hybrid I don't think you'll have the option for jail anymore, I think it will be either Fine, Leave the City until you pay the Fine or Resist Arrest which turns the whole city against you until you pay the fine. Castles will be heavily guarded and they might not even let you in until your really friendly with the ruler or somebody who's connected to the ruler.

Skyrim Guard Directives:

1) Serve the Public Trust
2) Protect The Innocent
3) Uphold The Law
4) 'oooohh you're naaaaked'

Here is what I would like. Presumably there is a civil war going on with those who wish to stay in the empire and those who do not. The cities who are still in the Empire I assume would still have imperial protection. Then there are the neutral towns who are waiting to see which side is stronger. They may receive envoys from each side asking if the would except protection/be absorbed, and then the rebels who I would like to see have city guards in large cities, a sheriff and deptuies (as others suggested)in medium towns, and in small towns, a millitia made of its inhabitants.

You're against gang-bangs in TES:V? What's going on with you Miles?

There was this one time with some ladies in a swank cottage outside of Anvil. But the guards came and busted it all up.

Remember, it's only illegal if you get caught :whistling:

Seriously, no psychic guards. And have multiple races be guards. At the very least, we need an "Argonian Guard Song."

I think red dead had a cool system. It was neat being chased after by a posse. As long as guards don't magically appear at the scene of the crime (psychic guards) I'll be happy.

I don't necessarily agree actually. In Bloodmoon, a lot of the settlements on Solthsteim were self-sufficient, including in security. If a werewolf attack happend, all the villagers would pull out silver weapons and slaughter them. Now with Cyrodill, it was more of a civilized province, with Imperial rule present. Skyrim is different in that regard, and I would prefer to maybe see town militias if anything, or perhaps the citizens can take care of themselves. This is a harsh environment after all. On top of that, a civil war is going on, so who knows what implications that may cause.

This, only in the biggest towns should there be guards. It would be nicer if you have bounty but could still go to little towns without getting jumped by guards. Instead if you do something bad in the town they'll take the law into there own towns. Nord Law ftw!

im excited to see more small and medium towns and villages... the idea of a small town militia or just a sheriff and a few deputies is a great idea. extremely excited for open cities as well where i can possibly run in without having to face a 45 second loading screen

if they say "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM" I will have a nervous break down.

anyway they should NOT BE:

1- Omniscient.
2- Unkillable.
3- Annoying.
4- Physic.

Guards were unkillable? When?

They should unerringly home in on you saying "HALT" at regular intervals and try to kill you.

Bwahahaha! Best guards ever. At least they weren't as annoying as the shop music of death. :P

I could care less, as long as they say HALT when chasing you, and call you criminal Scum when they try to arrest you.

Gaurds shouldn't be unkillable, but a lot harder to kill than a citizen. I mean they are professional, and are fully armored.

Killing a lonely Forester Guard in the forest should not end in auto criminal fine.
