oblivion aftermath

Lest we forget:

the Empire was, in a sense, responsible for his fathers death and
utterly useless in a time of need

Sort of, if you count Jagar Tharn as part of the Empire. I know he was in control but to say that he was doing it for the good of the Empire isn't right. In which case you can't really blame 'The Empire' for his treachory. Uriel would have certainly came to Symmachus' aid had he not been trapped. So I doubt Helseth holds the Empire responsible.

Well Morrowind will most likely secede. Morrowind secedeing will start a cascading effect that could emolden other provences to
secede as well. If this hapens Tamriel will enter a bloody era of war and chaos not seen since the fall of the Reman empire
Say what you want about the Sepitms at least they brought order.

Why will Morrowind most likely secede from the Empire. The king of Morrowind is pro-empire and possibly in a position for the throne. Morrowind will only leave the security of the Empire if it is in its best interests to do so. I doubt Helseth won't give at least a try for the job.

Actually, I am pulling for myself...

Hint:

"It would be amazing to see the end of Septim Dynasty..." :flamethrower:

And the beginning of mine! :celebration:

The Telvanni and Hllalu are very busy murdering each other so don't hold your breath on that Telvanni/Hlaalu alliance idea. They all hate Hllalu and Dres will be especially upset about interference with their slave trade. So Dres and Hlaalu may go to war

More than likely the smaller houses will pull together to resist Hlaalu - and regain territory if the Empire's grip is weakened.

Also they will decide that enough is enough and the Imperials can go find their own artifacts and metals = end of the Imperial / Hlaalu monoplies.

Indoril and Redoran likely ally - and that brings the Telvanni and Indoril closer. Indoril will be threatened on two sides by both Dres and Hlaalu so Telvanni will be a good option for them. Also Indoril and Redoran will now have more access to Ordinators and the elite Red Mountain units that have been resisting the creatures of the blight and the Dagoths ... no more blight, no more Dagoths and the Temple must change.

So
- Redoran are already mobilised to resist Norn incursions and declare Hlaalu traitors for not supporting them during what is fundamentally an invasion of Morrowind
- Indoril support Redoran because it is the honorable thing to do
- Redoran and Hlaalu go to war over the ownership of Caldera
- Telvanni use the opportunity to speed up their expansion on Vvardenfell and Hlaalu are forced to fight them as well.
- The Ashlanders heartened by the actions of the Nerevarine and the right to House status begin pulling together and make a bid for the northern side of Red Mountain and the lands that formerly belonged to the Dagoths - offering support to the Redoran and also Deepening their new links to the Telvanni on either side
- Dres and Hllau go to war over the slave trade

War on Vvardenfell

- the local Legions support Helseth in principal - but with no hope of reinforcement ... - Goodbye Helseth and Hlaalu collapses
- unless Helseth is declared Emperor

For that to happen that would require various major alliances and deals - basically Helseth needs support from both his siblings and their Provinces

Morrowind would secede becase the Dunmer have always been very independent and resentfull of the Empire. Helseth will reach for more power not as a puppet king of the council but as a autonomous entity. Helsteth will use the Dunmer hatred of the Empire so when he secedes from the Emprire he will be a hero to his people. Like I said before the next few years in Tamriel's history wil be bloody and Helsteth will contribute to that.

I refer you to post 55 on the previous page where we considered Helseth's family.

The step-sister of his mother's previous husband and his lost struggle for power with her, then his sister who married the King of Summerset Isle and did a deal with a certain dread personage involving her firstborn etc ... to have a chance Helseth needs allies.

Despite the fact I see him as a conniving unprincipled rat and very cunning top boot his track record has 2 major flaws. He lost a struggle he should never have attempted with his step-sister and he tried to manipulate me into doing his dirty-work in Mournhold when I was there.

Plus I cannot get out of my mind the fact that of all the Cities of Morrowind it was Ald'Ruhn that rumour has it entertained a Siege machine when the Gates opened. So I wonder why that is.

Mind you this quote from the Monomyth might be very significant:

Others, like Y'ffre, transformed themselves into the Ehlnofey, the Earthbones, so that the whole world might not die.

The Precursor claims that Yffre is waking up ... which suggests he will no longer be an Earthbone ... so what will keep the world form dying? That might mean that: 'THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH!' - :o scary eh?
