TES4EDIT 'compare to' error

As Tomlong said, turn off Wrye Bash's Lock Times. Lock Times totally negates anything BOSS does each time you run Wrye Bash, so every time you run Wrye Bash, the timestamps are being reset and the mods are ending up out of order again. You should only use Lock Times if you do NOT use anything else to control load order.


Yes, i realize that. I do turn off lock times every time i run boss, what i meant was just that i have it on when im not boss'ing the load order (ruling out the possibility that it's 'resetting' somehow).

And I think the problem may run much deeper than load order as well. It may have to do with the fact that this is a Chinese windows XP (although there's no problem with English and whatnot, that just means all the error messages are in Chinese), and another theory i have is that it may have to do with the Chinese date format (yyyy-mm-dd). Will test that in a moment.

Taking one of my own ESPs and comparing it to a copy of itself, for me TES4Edit works slightly differently.
Everything matches up to the point of loading the first ESP and finishing the Background Loader.
When I then compare to the copy ESP, for you, TES4Edit again loads Oblivion.esm and reads it, then gets upset and aborts. For me, it does NOT reload Oblivion.esm.

My ESP had another ESM as master, just ignore that. So while I have no idea what is going wrong for you, clearly TES4Edit is not running this process in the same manner as it does for me, with that second reading of Oblivion.esm
It is easy to just say "it's because you're using Chinese Windows", but I shan't say that, as I have no way of knowing whether that would be a problem or not. Sorry, I'm stumped. You have the latest version of TES4Edit? v2.5.3?

Yes, (unfortunately) i can. This always happens with any mod. Its been happening for about 6 months now (since i started trying to use the compare to function)- only problem i've had with tes4edit so far.

No idea, I just gave it a shot on a few copied ESPs and then compared them, my experience is the same as Vorians. The ESP selected with "compare to" does not cause Oblivion.esm to get loaded again.
