What if I don't want to be the Dragonborn?

This.

Pshh! Saving the galaxy from a reaper invasion?! [censored] that. Sounds like work. I guess I'll not play Mass Effect.

I guess you could just ignore the main quest but... Seriously?

Oblivion gates opening? That king guy is dead and I must find the heir? Psh! Forget that! Sounds like work. I guess I'll not play the Main Quest, lol! (Which I did! I decided I wanted to go vacationing at Shivering Isles instead, heh.)

My suggestion?

Tell the whole damn world they can rot in Oblivion, pack your bags, and head for a nice little fishing village.

Buy (or build) yourself a nice little shack, scope out the best spots off the coast, and spend your days reeling in the 'big ones'.

Then you're playing the wrong game.

Play a different one, in which the main character is what you wanna be. Weird question.

Kill your character enough times that he/she realizes that maybe someone made a mistake taking the most mortal person alive and making them Dragonborn.

Alternatively, play a different game or mod it out.
