OOO Installing problem

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:47 am

I downloaded the OOO complete installer for 1.3 or something like that, but NOT the OMOD version. I tried putting it in OBMM like any other mod, but it was taking such a massive time that I just quit it. Is there anything Im doing wrong, or am I just being too impatient? I tryed to put it in OBMM like any other ESP file By the way.

You can't add the installer to an OMOD, it doesn't work like that.

Instead, the best way to install OOO would be to download the OMOD-ready-archive, and use OBMM to create an OMOD out of it. This will take about 1-2 hours to create, and then you can install it.

Alternatively, you can just RUN the installer by double-clicking on it. But if you have Vista, it's recommended to go with the OMOD method instead. Do you have Windows XP, Vista, or 7?

it took me a little less than an hour to install OOO completely, then another create deal of time to activate it (I'd say about 10 minutes...but I didn't have a stop watch to keep track of time)
so, you just have to be patient. listen to some music, browse the web...maybe talk to some people here on the forums, or facebook, watch some videos on youtube, or -god forbid - play another game while you wait.
There is a great free MMO I could point you towards if you want something to pass time. (Ofcourse, it will take long to get that game running that it would take for OOO to install and activate)

Do not download the EXE, especially if you are running Vista. Now, did you download 1.3 or 1.33 complete? You should just download the OOO 1.33 Complete archive because it is already OMOD-ready. That means you can simply download it, launch OBMM, click "Create" (in the OBMM Window), "Add archive" (browse for the OOO 1.33 7z) and click "Create OMOD."

Best to not do anything at all on the computer while omod are builiding they get done a whole lot faster, even faster if you discoonect from the net, turn off av and firewall and background programs. Watch tv for a hour or so come back should be done by them. OOO with 1.33 and 1.34beta5 is very large omod to build once again.

Also, set compression on the omod to None. Builds MUCH faster that way.

TY for all the replies, I realized that I downloaded the wrong version for OBMM, I didnt get the OMOD. Sorry to ask this, but havent downloaded one in a while, but how do I install OMODs again? I remember you have to extract something, but I forget exactly the process.

You do not need to download an OMOD, and you do not need to extract anything. OOO 1.33 Complete and OOO 1.34b5 are not available in OMOD format. Are you going to use OOO full? If so, get the OOO 1.34b5 update. If not, get the OOO 1.33 LITE update patch.

The OOO 1.33 Complete .7z has omod conversion data it can be found on http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3953

Start Obmm, click create, select add archive point to 1.33 Complete .7z and it then just wait while it converts everything..

The do the same with OOO 1.34beta5 overwrite all when asked when you install that.

Actuly, I found a complete Installer, so I did the instructions it told me to and activated this mod with the Data Files or whatever at the Launcher. But, Ive read lots of times that MMM (Martigen's Monster Mod) goes great with OOO, but so far I havent found an OOO compatible link. Can anyone give me a link to a download for that?

Was it OOO 1.33? Do not install MMM until you can get even OOO installed properly.

no dont use OOO installer! use the OMOD ready archive and install it with ObMM, its much simpler. you also need v. 1.33 patched to 1.34b5. then download MMM 3.73.b3 and the archive and as well as TheNiceOnes OMOD installer and install that with ObMM. link to OOO 1.33 Complete and 1.34b5 patch downloads http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3953. remember no installer you want OMOD ready archives. MMM download http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=4226. download the 3.73b3 release as well as the 3.73b3 BSA. then download TheNiceOnes OMOD installer script http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=5583

I have already written a complete http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/mmmooo. All of those directions are in there. It is up to the user to take the time and read to install it properly, however.
