Official DLC question

What, in your opinion, is the best DLC? I have Broken Steel, but that's it. I was wondering what people think are the best so I can download it.

The Pitt. I haven't even finished it yet, but I've played the other DLC (minus Broken Steel) because I have GOTY and it has totally kicked the poop out of the rest of them. Not that the other ones are bad, but if you're only looking to buy and play one or two others, definitely The Pitt.

The Pitt and Point Lookout are generally considered to be the best (my favorite is the Pitt). The Pitt is amazing because it combines the best of both worlds (in terms of the current debate between Fallout 3 and NV fans) into one package. It has an excellent story that is coupled with an excellent industrial/post-nuclear atmosphere. Its a pity that they didn't expand on it though.

Point Lookout is also good because of the "exploration" aspect to it. Point lookouts map is huge for a DLC and you could spend a good 10+ hours just exploring everything you could. Not to mention the storyline and side quests (which are pretty good, the side quests are better though, in my opinion). The atmosphere is something I also like here (not as much as the Pitt though) as it has the "rural" south feel to it.

One DLC you want to avoid like the plague though is Mothership Zeta. Its generally considered to be a piece of garbage and I found myself having difficulties having any fun at all with it.

MZ seemed to be a bit of a money grab, to me...I don't get how or why it fits in the canon, though the samurai was lulz.

I have to say,my favorites would be Point Lookout because the area, its just so cool, the fog,the Swampfolk, awesomeness, but Broken Steel beats the [censored] out of it,because i can actually blow up that Pentagon, and HELP THE ENCLAVE! plus i just had it with Lyon's rant....

The worst is Mothership Zeta, the plot, sounds like something id read to my nephew, and it is bugged on my game,i got stuck up on the ship, and since i didnt have time to save until i got up to the ship,i had to got ALL THE WAY back to the fricking Oasis. It's plot is what had me done in.

Point Lookout. I'll have to purchase that as well. I already bought and downloaded The Pitt. Time to play the game.

Since this thread looks to be still nice and active, I will post my question in here(and it might help the OP as well).

Which of the DLCs can only be visited once? I have read somewhere that a couple of them can only be visited once and once you're there, you're there until it is completed. I just don't want to get stuck somewhere I can't currently handle and I want to make sure I get all the goodies from the places before they are closed to me forever.

Those are two different conditions ;)

You can only play through Operation: Anchorage once. It's a sim, you can't take anything into it with you, but you can't quit it until it's done. You also can't go back into the sim, as far as I can tell, it's the only one-time deal kind of thing

You have to play through the entirety of The Pitt before you can leave, but you are free to return anytime after that.

Point Lookout is 100% you are free to come and go as you please (you just have to keep buying ferry tickets).

Mothership Zeta...you have to play through it entirely before you are able to leave, but there is an NPC that will repair your equipment to 100% condition and there are ways to heal/rest, so it's not as imperative that you bring everything you need with you.

Broken Steel I haven't played yet :P

You can return to the ship after you've completed Zeta but much of it is locked down. Make sure to thoroughly explore the whole place while you're there the first time. It took me 10 hours to find everything but I got lost for a little bit :P

You can go back to the base in Broken Steel but you won't be able to reenter the biggest thing there. Grab everything you want first time around.

By far and far The Pitt. It is the closest thing that Bethesda has come toward making an actual RPG.

Point Lookout, besides Broken Steel, which obviously lets us play forever.

Thanks for the tips, Skirt and Ghouls. :)

I haven't gotten around to exploring any of those areas yet, but I will keep what you said in mind when I do. :)

It depends on what you like.
I like the Pitt and Point lookout because of the stories.
I like Mothership Zeta because I get to kick some alien butt.
And imo Operation Ancorage is a good simulation.
