Just got the Fallout Classic Collection

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:06 am

So I've got Fallout, Fallout Tactics, and Fallout 2 to work with. Along with New Vegas for the PC but that is just for modding.

Anyone got any tips or tricks on how to play these games, especially 2 or tactics. They look fun and I'm installing them now.

Fallout 2, Temple of Trials is a pain in the ass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-gwaO7Rs9w
Do all quests in Klamath and The Den before continuing forth.
Remember to balance SPECIAL out, if you have 1 in a stat it can be... Well.. Horrible.
Traits as well, choose wisely.
Oh and expect to start the game over like 5 times cause you "will" mess up, either with quests, either with dialogue or with your characters stats.

And remember to download Killaps patch and his restoration project. http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Killap%27s_Fallout_2_Restoration_Project

Save Often.

Unarmed Skill is very useful, you can kick. Saves ammo. Talk to as many people a you can (you can learn things/skills). Don't try to kill all the geckos right away. Hakunin can heal you.

As for Tactics. It has a training thing you can do before you start.

And just to put some more perspective on it, SAVE OFTEN!
My god... I remember the times I went 7 hours without saving only to die from a lucky critical from a ghoul krazie... The computer was not far from being thrown out the window I'll tell ya that. Hehe.. he... :stare:

Save Often.

That's probably the best general advice. Fallout 2, for one, can be quite brutal at the beginning stages - and later on too.

And as said, at character creation, pay attention to the stats and skills you choose. The effects can be quite drastic.

I can see the Temple of Trials being tedious in the long run, but for some reason I personally haven't gotten bored of it (or then I have, but have gotten over it too - who knows). It's not a pinnacle of game openings, that's for sure, but I guess my subsequent playthroughs take so much time between each other, that I have gotten over the boredom of it - it just flows by without me even noticing it much, and nets me the first levelup. :P

And don't just save over the last save over and over you have 9 other slots. What I do an I am sure others do is 1st save slot one 2nd slot two and so on till I get to ten. Then I start saving over them.
