I had Daggerfall running with the WASD keyboard configuration, by changing controls to viewplyr.dat in the z.cfg file.

However, I accidently clicked the "Default" button in the Contols setup, and now I can't get the WASD configuration back, unless I manually change the keys myself.

Does anyone know how to fix this.

Try changing it back to base, load the game, then return it to view. It should "reset" it.

I tried changing it back and then resetting it to viewply.dat.

Unfortunately it didn't work.

Just grab another copy of the game and find a good copy of the file. Or maybe a friend who has a copy can send you a proper copy. I'd have already done it myself if these boards allowed file attachments.

I found a solution.

If anyone else runs into this problem, here is the solution.

There is a copy of this file in the "\DFCD\ARENA2" folder. Just copy the one from this folder, and replace the one in the "DAGGER\ARENA2" folder.

That was exactly what I was going to say!
