Umm, Dumb Question

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:35 am

Control scheme says"tab". All this does is bring up the spell book. What am I missing? (back in the day I always used mouse movement and this wasn't an issue.)

I feel dumb. :brokencomputer:

Thanks.

Double click the spell to chose it then I think left click to cast if I remember correctly.

Yep, that should do it. It kind of "loads" the spell. A Left-click should fire it.

That worked....... But, I seem to remember a spell effect. I think that was my problem. It didn't APPEAR to work. The spell in question was Shock. But the HP of the opponent (a Thief?) was affected.

Not sure exactly what you mean... Shock is supposed to damage the opponent you target, as it is an offensive spell.

I think he's saying it did damage without producing a visible electric effect, so it wasn't readily obvious that the spell worked.

Exactly. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Is tis normal? It's been so long. But, I thought that there was a visible spell effect?

The spell effect should be visible.

You would think.... I am just restarting after having played many many years ago. I seem to remember back in the day that DF had a problem with spell effects. I don't think that it was ever fixed. So, maybe as I get new spells this won't be a problem for all spells.

Isn't Shock a Touch range spell? If you're doing it at range there's a pretty good chance nothing happens other than possibly wasting spell points.

(I could very easily be wrong about the range, check it in game to be sure)

That is a possibility. But I did kill a Thief with it and there was no spell effect that I could see.

Have you updated the game to 2.13 with the enclosed patch? Have you tried using DDRAW in the screen option? Have you tried running the CPU in Dynamic mode? Have you got the memory set to 32mb?
