West to East BoS road trip

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:31 pm

It's about 3,000 miles from most places on the east coast to most places on the west coast of the USA and 3,400 miles at it's widest point. According to Yahoo Maps the distance from Lost Hills, CA, to DC is 2732.92. If their destination was Jacksonville, FLA, then the 2000 miles figure would be accurate. Sorry to nitpick, but I keep seeing the 2,000 miles figure come up on this board and I couldn't resist mentioning it any longer. :ermm:

2000 miles is the rounded down distance from Las Vegas to Washington DC "approximately 2420 miles" (Google).

Still you are right it would be closer to 3000 miles, the Distance from Lost Hills to DC.

So Lyons walked close to 3000 miles in only 2 years, through unknown territories that is the post apocalyptic wasteland. Only known stops were Pittsburgh and area close to Chicago. Does not make much sense how he was able to do it or why they did not stop anywhere else or find anything else on the way. Bethesda Magic

Well... Forest Gump ran around the country, who knows, maybe they'll give us a adequate explanation in Fallout 4, The Hunt For More Money

Are you just going by the dialogue in FO3 because there was a whole game about that called fallout tactics which was based around a different section if the BoS many years before FO3, and in the end they stayed in Chicago. So the FO3 brotherhood is not the Midwestern BoS

The scourge was specifically in Pittsburg, not all of Chicago.
And sad to say but the Midwestern Brotherhood fell apart according to Rothchild in FO3, but I think he says that was just a rumor and that they don't know for sure.

Nonetheless, that's a long way to walk in Power Armor.

- 2 ALG. Not sad, but a [censored] to walk in their T-45 power armor.

How exactly did the BoS get from cali to the CW

I thought they came on the same air ships that crashed in Tactics.

No metion of airships at all in FO3. They walked over 3000 miles in two years, apparently not finding anythinig of value or intrest or any opposition of note till they got to The Pitt.

Yeah really... they should atleast have explained it like...

"They traveled by vertibird until they saw the remains of Pittsburge... They were low on food so they were going to try and scavenge some and they found it in a terribly mutated condition... They decided that they either kill these mutants now or it'll come back to bite them later.

They cleared it out and continued on to DC..."

But no they walked across America in bulky Power Armor, somehow walked right past the MWBoS, found nothing of interest the entire way there (until the Pitt), and somehow made it there with very few losses (all died or let behind in the Pitt)... That is incredibly ubelievable, should have been better written... Maybe they could hire us!

The BoS didn't have Vertibird tech at that time (then left before the enclave came on the scene didn't they?) plus Vertibirds don't have that range. They could barely get to navarro from the oil rig. One way. (They needed the base to refuel for the return trip.)

True Vertibirds don't have that rang but there is a quest in FO2 to give the BoS Vertibird blue prints.

No the people who crashed in Tactics are not Lyons' brotherhood.

I know, but didn't they leave between FO1 and 2? Or am I thinking of something else? (Like the Midwest BoS)

I know that... That'd just be the only way it really made sense.

They should atleast have an Adventures of The Brotherhood DLC where you see a struggle for survival across the harsh wastes.

It was one big Psycho trip and the next thing they know boom there sitting in the Citadel with Liberty Prime.

Also didn't the Enclave use vertibirds to get from the West to East coast.

Its been suggested but seems unlikely given that the range of vertibirds is so short (like 170 miles or something). However if there are vertibird refueling stations like the one seen in New Vegas scattered acoss the U.S. or in unknown Enclave outposts, then it could be possible and would explain the existence of Vertibirds on the East Coast (given that the were created on the oil rig).

The BoS are knights in shining armor right?? Well they *totally* got to DC knight style.
They found coconuts and "rode their houses" all the way to DC to find the holy grail of tech there. Right? Right?? Right?!!
