Fallout 3 bargain or not?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:23 am

This might be a bit daft asking this on a Fallout forum but anyway, i'm just a little excited at the mo!

I bought Fallout 3 on release day but i only played the opening story, left the vault, headed to some town then .... never played it again.

Anyway the other day i decided i'll give it a play, just finished another playthrough on Oblivion, ME 2 all wrapped up, even played through Mirrors Edge again! So put the disk in and it wont work!!!

So on to ebay, gets myself another copy of Fallout 3 for £3.20!!!!!!!, thats about $4 i think. Is that a bargain or what?!?! I cant wait for the game to come.

Have i got myself a bargain at that price? And how good is Fallout 3 really? I'm playing Xbox version so will be strictly Vanilla, except any DLC you guys recommend?

UPDATE

Hey all..... 100 hours of Fallout 3 later and i'm back to report! AAAMMMAAAIIIZZZZINNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

I love this game, it is so so good! Its right up there with Oblivion for me. I have just downloaded Broken Steel and am kicking the Enclave ass! Got myself NV for when i'm done but i'm not expecting as good as this - although there are mixed reviews.

The only thing was, the end of the main story crept up on me real quick, i wasn't expecting it when it came, so just got the expansion so i could keep going. I havn't really even started exploring yet.

Anyway, thats next so report back soon..... I'm heading back to my Science theme Megaton home. That feels like my new reality

Yeah, great bargain. Fallout 3 is an amazing game, once you get into it, it is hard to put the controller down.

You should get Broken Steel because you can play after the game is over, Point Lookout is good too and The Pitt is very cool, very diverse from the Capital Wasteland... I enjoyed it at least.

I would absolutely recommend Mothership Zeta but its not as good if your on the Xbox.

Have fun and let me know how it goes! :fallout:

Yeah will do,

I was meaning to ask actually about that. I did here that you couldn't continue after game completion, that seemed real odd to me for a modern RPG, especially from Beth. So how does the expansion allow you to continue playing? (without spoiler)

An exceptional bargain. I enjoyed Fallot 3 so much that I even considered it a bargain at $20 and paying the going price for the DLCs. The DLC should allow you to continue exploring and playing as long as you want (certainly beyond the ending of the stand alone game). Having the DLCs loaded takes the normal closing scenes and credits (after completing the main quest) and then puts you right back into the game where things left off.

Its an amazing bargain, you will absolutely love it. The Broken Steel DLC will allow you to continue after the main quest is over. You can install it at any time. Point Lookout, The Pitt and Broken Steel are the best DLC, in my opinion. But the base game alone will keep you busy for so many hours you will not need them. Enjoy it, its great. :)

Oh Yeah! Massive bargain. I picked up the GOTY version for £12 for Christmas and am LUUURRRRRVVVVINg it!
Think of about 200+ hrs of gaming for that price, its ridiculous!
Broken Steel is the main Expansion pack which greatly expands the length of the game - you can level to 30 instead of 20

I've got the same bug. I really like the fantacy genre ie Oblivion, nothing could come close to it, but if i'm honest Beth have done it again with Fallout 3, i actually think the game itself is better. I really cant wait now for skyrim... its gonna be awsome if they keep improving like this.
