Overwhelmed, where to start again

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 10:26 am

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong section but I have a question.
I've played fallout 3 without mods when it first came out and I've played fallout 3 again about a year ago with the current mods that I liked at the time.
Now that more time has passed I noticed there is WAY more mods now with even deeper changes to the game.

My question is where to I start now that there are so many mods? Is there like a list of "must have" mods to switch the game up and take it to even the next level?

Thanks

Don't go looking for mods just for the hell of it. Play the regular game, then if something annoys you, or you find something you think could be improved, THEN go find a mod. Just installing mods for the hell of it is a quick way to make your game unstable or choppy.

I don't know about that. I brows the Nexus all of the time. If I find an interesting mod, I download it. My game is quite stable. It rarely CTDs.

Unless I read OP wrong the game has already been played without mods which is why I directed him/her to Mez's thread in the first place, I wouldn't recommend playing the game with mods for a first playthrough for the reason you mentioned, as well as making it easier for conflict detection as well as knowing which mod added what to the game. That's something you would have a hard time knowing if you've never played vanilla.

That's correct.
I've already played the game in stock form, then I modded it to my liking and played it again.

Now I'm just looking to really switch it up and make it a different experience altogether.

Take a look at http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1069054-fallout-video-chronicles-adventures-in-the-wasteland-and-beyond/. He has provides a list of all the mods he is using in his gameplay videos. Playing with those mods will surely give you a different experience.

That's not necessarily a modlist I would recommend at the moment, considering there is no updated compatibility patch for the latest versions of FWE and FOOK.
