Give http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grunts_(novel) by Mary Gentle a whirl. Should satisfy Orc lovers, Elf haters, folks fed up with holier-than-thou preachy http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LawfulStupid heroes, and anyone who loves mixing genres like throwing guns (Or motorcycles...hehehe) into fantasy settings.

Not to mention anyone who just appreciates a good laugh. :D

...or break all social contact now so you'll be used to it by the time Skyrim comes out.

Then no one will interrupt your Skyrim adventures by trying to figure out where you went and why you don't hang out with them anymore. I approve of this plan. :P

Or...fake your disappearance/death/whatever, until you are sufficiently tired of/have finished all the quests in Skyrim, and all playable mods for said game, then have a miraculous discovery/recovery/whatever... :P

I'd be down to buy Skyrim without seeing any trailers. I think it may be the only game I would buy without knowing anything about it other than its developers were the developers of the previous games

I've been meaning to read Orcs. I heard it's a really interesting take on the traditional Orc mold.

Nice, I didn't know there were actual books about TES.

It seems anyone really trying to pass the time waiting for other games is playing this new fangled minecraft game. Not my sort of game but its apparently really addictive and takes up tons of time.

Well, I might start a HUGE building project in Minecraft... or just get enough money to buy a bigger plot... and stay away from lava.

I just started reading George R R Martin's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Song_of_Ice_and_Fire series of novels.

This is the basis for the upcoming Game of Thrones HBO series, and it was mentioned as one of the possible influences for Skyrim's art direction inasmuch as it is considered slightly more toward the "low fantasy" end of the spectrum than most high fantasy novels. Also there is a civil war going on ( plus dragons).

Those books are amazing. I cannot wait until a Dance with Dragons comes out. Looking forward to Game of Thrones HBO series as well.

I'll pass the 10 months or so preparing for college. I'm afraid that I won't have as much time as I would like for Skyrim as I would like, since I start college in September. Oh well, there's always weekends and holidays.
