Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:35 am

I preferred NV over 3. mainly because of the new gameplay elements, also because of the way they did the story. it wasn't the "greatest story ever told" but what is in video games nowadays?

Haters.

Oh the irony.

How was New Vegas black and white? All of the major factions were neutral, the NCR and Legion leaned towards opposite sides of the alignment spectrum but they weren't flat out good or evil. Despite bringing order to the wasteland the NCR is a very oppressive regime which heavily taxes its citizens and uses underhanded tactics to force communities to join them whether they like it or not. The Legion seems completely evil on the surface, but they're extremely disciplined and their land is safer than even NCR territory. The Legion is brutal, but if you can fit into their society and perform well it's not a bad place to be.

Yes, it's just the majority of companions living under 'their' regime so they might be a bit biased. But heck, even Cass points out that NCR isn't perfect.
A truly neutral factions might be The Kings.

Fallout 3 plot was not even a lackluster, but most of the time a copy/paste of the old Fallout plots, the only original thing here in the Main Plot is "Daddy was dissapeared"

Exploration is the only redeeming factor in this game

And not talking about the Anticlimix Boss,

No it's not a little biased... All of the followers are NCR or no faction at all... So it's basically side with the NCR get whoever you want, side with anybody else and you can only get 3/4 of what the people who side with the NCR get.

Even if they're disiplined and raiders either flee or get killed, that doesn't make them any better for enslaving people... And it only isn't a bad place to be if you're a slaver.

And the NCR is the cliche corrupt government...

There are cliches, different from Fallout 3's black and white (I didn't say F3 had no cliches) but they're still cliche.

DON'T EVEN TRY TO SAY NEW VEGAS DIDN'T HAVE TONS CLICHES EITHER...

They made it EXTREMELY unbalanced on how much land each faction owns, and the followers were ridicules as well (how they were either NCR lovers or just didn't give a sh*t about any faction).

The cliche good vs. evil was even more apparant in Vegas due to nobody being neutral (the Outcasts)!!!

Followers made more sense than that [censored] FO3 had, FO3 was ridiculously unbalanced being that you are a god, there is no good or no evil in vegas, so either you have played an unreleased copy for Vegas, OR you mistook this for Fo3.

I'm saying that you only get 3/4 of the followers if you're not an NCR worshipper...

House gets all companions, Yes man gets all companions, Boone svcks as a companion when your legion anyways and he's the only one that leaves you.

I don't recall saying anything about bias and companions.

Even if they're disiplined and raiders either flee or get killed, that doesn't make them any better for enslaving people... And it only isn't a bad place to be if you're a slaver.

Sure it does, they have positive points that the NCR does not have. Are they perfect? Certainly not, but neither is the NCR and that's why New Vegas isn't black and white. Each philosophy has its positives and negatives. Objectively the Legion is just another society attempting to carve out an existence in the Fallout world just like the NCR, and a very successful one at that considering its size. Whether you find the Legion's values and beliefs good or bad is subjective, but they're not flat out evil.

And the NCR is the cliche corrupt government...

Now you're just being ridiculous.

I didn't say that New Vegas is free of cliches, but one of your arguments was that the "good vs. evil" angle was more apparent in New Vegas which is not true at all. New Vegas is a battle between three philosophies, none of which are inherently evil.

You can only have one follower at the time anyways, and what good RP'ing is it to hire Boone, who states he does nothing better than killing legionaries, when you are going to work for Caesar's Legion? Or hire Cass, who also states to hate CL, aswell as Arcade? Go for any of the other followers, and take these three I just said when you support any other faction than CL... though I agree that it svcks that NCR get two supporting followers, but CL none except for Raul who says they are ok since Arizona was a mess before they came, but still... shoulda liked Ulysses. I'd also like Joshua Graham, most evil person there is, bad reputation with everyone and doesn't support any faction, just the killing of Caesar!

New vegas is clearly a better game. It fixed basically all the problems that fallout 3 had.
New Vegas improve so many things:
+Better dialogue and writing
+Reputation and factions
+Gambling
+Harcore mode
+Cooking/survival skill
+More weapons(expecially trhowing weapons)
+You could poison your melee weapons.
+Moddable weapons
+Different kind of ammunition
+Traits
+Special stats matters much more.(even though not enough for me)
+More balanced leveling as you dont get millions of perks
+More differend kind of new monsters
+Isnt just black and white factions.
+More interesting and personal companions. Also companion quests rocks.

So thats why new vegas is a lot better game than fallout 3.

Sebor, it seems like you prefer Fallout 3, which is your choice. But, saying somebody's opinion is wrong, because it's different than your's is a little immature. And Fallout: New Vegas was far less cliche.

Sorry if it came out to be like that... I found Fallout 3 better, for the feel etc.

I just hate how so many people (even on random forums with nothing to do with it!) are praising Vegas and bashing F3...

It's just ridicules! And some of them are just as bad or worse in Vegas.

Seriously though, not everyone is going to, nor has to share your opinion and perceptions. Everyone is going to see what they want to see, yourself included.
