I Have A Bas Feeling Dragon Shouts Are Going To Overshadow M

dragon shouts will probably be limited.besides ur thinking about it the wrong way. Dragon shouts ARE magic.

I think he's worried that more resources are going into the development of shouts rather than the "tradional" magic system.

I think the answer to this is in its name... DRAGONshouts. I bet they'll probably have it set to a very limited use over time. Which means you'd want to save it for when you needed them... like against dragons.

i see them more as buffs that prob have longer cool downs then normal spells and a few offence and deffence ones as well.where as spells wont have long cool downs at all.Dragon shouts u have to hold down a button in order for ur char to finish the shout, and i also believe depending on what type of character u play some dragon shouts might not be useful for some character builds.
And how do you know you have to hold down a button while the Player is shouting?

I don't think the shouts will take away from the 'normal' spell system. I'm looking at them as being a new branch of the combat system that's already in place, which will hopefully enhance any and all fighting styles available in the game.

As for how they will work exactly, is anyones guess at this point. Would make sense though, that instead of eating away at your magicka, the shouts devoured your stamina/fatigue reserves pretty quickly. I mean, screaming loud enough to summon a surly dragon to your side, against its will, has to be one :swear: of an energy killer.

The other thing I was thinking was that because they are cumulative in their nature(as in one word stacking onto another for maximum effect), the more complex and powerful shouts would take time to bring to full capacity, leaving you defenseless against any NPC attack, that would then interrupt the shout process.

Lastly, I'm imagining even the simple shouts to be somewhat slow in their delivery. Like a deep drawn out slow-motion style pronunciation of the words to give an epic, reverberating, all-powerful, eardrum shattering, bloodclotting, legendary, eye-popping, mythic, god-like, brain hemorrhaging, esoteric, long forgotten and buried in a tomb somewhere for the benefit of mankind, basass badass sort of feel to it.

Maybe at e3 we'll get to see the shouts in motion?
