low res sky textures problem

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 6:17 pm

I can't seem to get my sky textures in a higher resolution. I've gone through the textures folder and made sure all the right textures were in place, and it did work at one time, after i initially installed the morrowind 2011 comp. but after installing other mods, (new moons) and deleting others that were unnecessary, i can't seem to get it to work. I am using MGE and wyre bash, and wyre bash seems to say everything is ok with all my mods. and i've gone through distant land generator in MGE many times thinking that would fix it. i just think i'm missing or overlooking something and i could use some help. i'm not sure what other information one would need to help, but let me know, and i will provide what i can.

Are the textures not being replaced, or they are blurry, pixelated, or something else?

I've always felt that they looked a bit odd. Possibly because there's much more stuff in the sky in them compared to the normal night sky. I don't know if that's your problem though, a screenshot would be nice.

A good thing to note is that it includes a mesh replacer for the skybox too.

ok, so i think i might have worked it out. but i think it was the cloud cover texture in the ashlands that originally made me think something was wrong. they still look low res to me, though.

but everything else seems fine besides that.

If you're using the official stable release of MGE v3.8.0b or any beta revision up to v3.8.0-rev0119, the distant blur feature will cause the sky to become blurred (including clouds, stars and moons). You can fix that by setting MGE's distant blur to zero (effectively disabling the feature) or by using a more recent beta build.

I wrote a simple fix to suppress the sky blurring which became incorporated into rev-0120 and after, however the most recent beta builds removed the distant blur feature in favor of Depth of Field shaders which offer better implementation of distance blurring and preserve the sky detail when directly viewed (i.e. no obstructing objects in the foreground).
