The Final Decision

Could a normal person have broken the amulet and turned into a dragon?...no, so we have a 'Dragonborn', now we just need a magical source comparible to the Amulet of Kings.....

btw everybody, i really didn't want to get into a lore battle here i just wanted to know what people thought.

That's not how it works lol. The Amulet of Kings had the blood of akatosh in it, it wasn't a "power source" that triggered Martin to transform...

Me neither. I was actually rather dissapointed when i found out dragons would play such a huge part in Skyrim. It's such a clishé. All Medieval Fantasy games have them except TES... or it used to be that way.

Yep, I said this in another thread. ES games had original creatures like guar/nix/scribs/cliff racers/ etc. Then in OB they used Minotaurs/unicorns/trolls etc, pretty much all the usual fantasy game/story nonsense. Kind of a let down when I heard about Skyrim, I mean...the game is based around dragons.

Um, turning into a dragon permanently would completely break the game.

Would that make it a Dragon Break? :D

I want to know how Dragons went from Crown Jewel of the Cyrodillic Empire (Anyone remember Nafaalilargus?) to the sworn enemy. I've always imagined them as the Empire's "Secret Weapon" and guardian patron, to keep the awe of the provinces. Prior to the destruction of the Battlespire, they even had Dragon-riding Battlemages, and there were extremely young dragons in the Illiac Bay prior to the Warp in the West.

And you will not genocide the Dragons... they come from across the sea.

Dragons have been in TES for a long time. They've been mentioned as being sacred to the empire (just look at the empire's symbol...) and helped in Tiber Septim's conquest of Tamriel, Daggerfall had "dragonlings", and Redguard had a full-size red dragon (who could talk).

I may well make my character Khajiit. And like the distant cousins in Akavir, I'll be able to change to and from a dragon form at will! :D

Yeah, things are about choice but that doesn't mean you can just spontaneously wish yourself to become a dragon. I mean, if you want the world to be destroyed that would be a nice choice by transforming into a dragon just is out of the question. I mean, I have a choice but I can't just spontaneously transform into a Daedric Prince. (You proved me wrong Shivering Isles :swear: )

A pretty cool spell would (in my opinion) be being able to transform into a Dragon but once you transform back... then all damage you've taken should hit you... and finally all your skills should be lowered by 5-10 points...

Save right before and have a Dragon character and a mortal character?

That's what I'd do.

Yea thats true.....butttt i seem to remember a line by Baurus in Oblivion, "They say it’s the Dragon Blood, that flows through the veins of every Septim. They see more than lesser men."

and as we all should know Dragons have the ability to shapeshift, so is it to much to assume that a 'Dragonborn' , like the Septim's were, can't eventually learn to shapeshift into a dragon? :)

I know. That was not what i meant. They are different in TES. You rarely see them, infact the only Dragon i ever saw in a TES game (only played Morrowind and Oblivion) was the Avatar of Akatosh. But they are sometimes mentioned yes, and descripted as something different from your average mindless killing machine. Even though Dragons exist in TES, Bethesda for some reason decided to keep them out, atleast in the latest games. That was what i meant.

You are fighting the dragons. Why would you want to become the enemy? It may be cool stylistically, but storywise I think it would ruin it...and I wouldn't want to do it anyway.
Also, on a somewhat related matter I would much rather have my character become the emperor in the end.

That seems to make the most sense.
