Close combat?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:13 am

Ok, so I've looked through many of the trailers, and browsed the existing forum posts, but I haven't seen to much information about close quarters combat. I don't know if it extends any further then the standard melee system in many FPS titles. Does anyone know if there has been any mention of specific CQ weapons? Any help would be appreciated.

Can't wait for Brink btw, looks boss.

no actual cqc weps but you get a knife with your pistol.otherwise you just buttstock'em.

i think there has been comments and topics on this before instead of page scanning you should use your Search if you didn't already most people new here don't realize it's existence.

First, welcome to the forums here's a turtle. :turtle:

To answer your question, the only melle weapons you have are the butt of your gun and the knife you can equip when holding a pistol. The butt of your gun will knock down the player, but won't do as much damage as the knife will. The knife cannot knock down the person, so you have the choice to knock them on their ass and try htting them again to get a insta kill (Plus extra XP) or you can do more damage with the knife and shoot them with your pistol to finish the job.

Thanks for the informative reply, and thanks for the turtle!

I thought I forgot something, but yes a slide tackle would be considered a Melee.

You can also put a bayonet on the end of your gun.

Well that's news to me. I'm guessing that would substitue the gun butt, do more damage, but you wouldn't knock the person down?

It attaches to the front, so I think it's a knife style thing. Probably slower than a knife, and you'd have to give up a grenade launcher or laser sight or whatever to have it, too.

I know it was attached to the front, I was just guessing that you wouldn't be able to use the gun butt because that would be pretty unfair if you had both.

true but several Resistance chars have it in the main page character models, http://brinkthegame.com/features/customization/ , many outfits here are holding some sort of short rifle or shot gun with a bayonet, all of them it's the same rifle and i think it's only on the res' side ,which indicates it's just for looks. for example go too the Res section in the top right and go all the way <-- Left of the characters the heavy at the bottom has it.

no, i haven't heard any dev's on about this yet either.
