The Ingame Hero - painting?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:27 pm

Am I wrong or the game itself has a bit the feel of a painting ? Especially reminds me a bit the painting of L . Elmore ... the Character itself and the style ...

No. I don't see it but you may be confusing some concept art to screens.

Don't worry, we're just not used to the epic graphics of Skyrim yet.

I dont mean actually the painting hand but the character style dress , like the sleveless armour , the horned helmet etc...

And Finally I can see a decent bulked human hero in a TES Game , not like the Anholessic Emo of Fallout ... Hopefully they wont go for a teen kid age level hero but more for a mature man after 30s ....

I think I know what you mean. The shots so far have a kind of otherworldly, scenic feeling to them. The graphics are good enough to approach realism, but at the same time they're fantastical through and through (even without taking the monsters into account), and the character seems larger-than-life without being inhuman or exotic.

I can't view the image in your second link though - I get a "Forbidden" error. Skyrim's art style most reminds me of http://frankfrazetta.org/ work.

Yes, the armor and "feel" of the screens we've seen so far remind of epic fantasy art. Which is a good thing to me :D

Edit* I should point out the game informer magazine article said we will be able to not only customize our face (as usual) but our bodies as well. So you can have your muscular hero and I can have my slender BradPittinFightClub assassin.

I understand what he's saying. Todd says Conan was a major inspiration, and there's much about Robert E. Howard that inspired classic swords and sorcery. While Oblivion had a certain Arthurian medieval/renaissance setting, this one will feel more like a "Weird Tales" sort of realistic and gritty fantasy. If you look at Frazetta's paintings, that's more like it.

It was a really tough pick between How Heavy This Axe, Freya, and Winter's Wolves.
