Is there a mod or way to look at front of your char?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:31 pm

ISTR that some modders' screen shots show the character from the front rather than from behind or over the shoulder.

How do you accomplish that? Is there a way to see the char from the front? When I try to rotate the 3rd person (?) image, it stops after about a 180 degree rotation.

Or is there a mod that perhaps provides a floor to ceiling mirror for an egotistical char to admire him/herself or check how his clothes and/or armor look? There are all those warriors out there in Morrowind who say they want to look scary enough to ward off trouble, but how do they know they look scary? :) Sorry, just an idle thought, that.

Press and hold the "tab" key and use the mouse to rotate your camera around your character in a vanity mode.

Edit: I should note that you can only do this while holding the tab key, the minute you let go, it will revert back to whatever camera option you were using, being 3rd or first person from the back, facing forward.

Thanks. Worlked like a charm. Now I'll have to walk him to a spot that has better lighting than what's there right now :)

It's no biggie to wait until he walks outside in daylight. I was interested in how people got screenshots of the front of the char so that I could see what my char looked like wearing different armor and clothes. I will have to find some lanterns or lights to put up, however.

The over-the-shoulder look is actually an option of the Morrowind Code Patch.

night eye will also help make things brighter you could also adjust the gamma in the options or adjust the brightness/contrast after the screen shots are taken

Real simple. It's a game. I play it for fun. I don't normally concern myself with screenshots or what the char's appearance is. After adding some mods that affect the appearrance of clothing, I got interested and asked. EOS.

lol You would be surprised how many people don't know. I have a habit to look at all the controls after a while of playing, so I get to know rather fast. But some people just like to get engrossed into the game and don't bother about that.

True. I read the manual a bit when I first started but my interests were the races, classes and spells plus using the awsd buttons, F5 and ESC; it works for me :) And the control console is pretty much unknown to me; I use it almost only to ra npcs and once or twice the fixme. But then again, I'm into playing mods, whereas I would expect modders would learn the game's details and mechanics by heart backwards and forwards as they create thier mods, not to mention the tools they use to make the mods.

I pay significantly much more attention to mod recommendation lists, mod threads here and to mod readmes as I try to decide which mods I might want to try and to be aware of quirks other people report. Alas, my batting average is not very good on this score. I think I went through many re-installs while I was getting adjusted to Wrye Mash and mlox and how Wrye Mash could help manage the installation of mods into the data files folder. A lot of people here helped me with that, which is why I felt comfortable asking the question.

haha, same :P buts thats because that one doesn't just need a simple "button press"
i learnt how to go in 3rd person by pressing the caps button.. well.. i missed and hit the tab button. and jh2011, u dnt jst need it for mods :P pretty sure non-modders need it to. also, if u have a scroll wheel on your mouse you can zoom in and out of you char :)

How do you add notes onto the map? Can you do it for both local and world maps?

@povuholo, I still haven't gotten the hang of that, but then my chars never develop that skill to begin with :)

@wollibeebee, again, it just depends on the habits you develop to play the game. ISTR reading somewhere about the mouse wheel. I wanted to use it to zoom in on the game map, especially if it would enable me to scroll the game map all the way to the edges so that I could look at the map in it entirety (you get what I mean) and plan where next to go. I may have misunderstood its use wrt navigating around, but it's hard for me to say that not usine it has impacted my game play. Now, if someone gets a Wii or Kinnect to work with the game (on a pc, that is), that would be pretty neat.

@Midgetalien, I know the feeling. I only discovered that in the past few months myself, and only because I was thinking about the similarities and differences between the game mechanics, modding communities and mod issues of Baldur's Gate and MW. I move between those two to take a breather when the game goes stale for me. I started playing BG and BG2, moved to MW/Trib and back to BG2 and recently back to MW. The big difference is that I finally broke down and bought the GOTY edition (MW/T/B) in order to try the mods that looked appealing to me but that I couldn't play because they were made to be played only with all three parts. It also helped that I had had to replace my pc :)
