Help! Can't run CS

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:19 pm

I've had Oblivion a long time, so I figured I'd start learning to make mods on my own, so I downloaded CS, installed fine, then when I start it up, a message pops up saying "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly" and then it crashes.

I uninstalled, reinstalled dozens of times, didn't work. My oblivion file is not in the Program Files folder (I put it under my documents), and yes the CS is installed in the same folder as Oblivion. I have the GOTY version of Oblivion and I made sure CS was version 1.2 too. I've already installed the latest version of Direct X and disabled UAP (I'm running Vista), but nothing's worked, I still get the same error message. I don't get it, if I can run Oblivion shouldn't I be able to run CS? Help for a tech noob?

I'm guessing you have changed your Oblivion.ini [Archive] section.
You must change the Construction.ini to match. It does not automatically copy the Oblivion.ini.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I did that... Maybe that is the problem.

Ok, this is just getting ridiculous! I know technology hates me, but now I can't find constructionset.ini in the "My Games" folder where my oblivion.ini is.... Anyone charitable enough to put up the individual file?

Well, if the ConstructionSet.ini is not in your My Games\Oblivion folder, it's not going to start. Period.
The ini's are unique to your PC, using mine or anyone elses is going to cause you even more fits.
Use the Windows Search to find it. If you don't have one, you've no choice but to reinstall the CS.
Also, just to be sure, you do have the correct CS version to match your Olivion version, right?

Yep, Version 1.2 with GOTY Oblivion. I used Window's search already... Nothing! Oh my god. Installed and reinstalled dozens of times. I guess I'm fated never to use the CS. @_@

edit: Or at least, do you know where/how I can get/create a blank, default state of constructionset.ini?
