Help with Creating Tree's spt file

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:30 pm

Hi

I need help with spt files, i can import them into speed tree modify them, but i can't export them back out as spt file. I even renamed the extension despite the file size being massive only to crash it, so i know there has to be a way, and maybe simple but i have spent last 3 hours getting no where

SPT files are the old version of speedtree, so i'll try to get a older version of it somehow 4.*, maybe a old version of UDK maybe? Speedtree 5.0 is the current verion

If you find a compatible version from someone other than Shady Sam I'd love to hear about it. Hand-editing the files in Notepad is a pain in the a**...so I've heard. :whistling:

Hi

I sent you a pm Magician.

OK, i got that sorted out and it all works, i can get trees in game now, but my trees are the same as the others that come with the game. If used on a interior cell, at a size of third of orig size they remain virtually black, unless you have holes in the ceiling. I do have holes in the ceiling that i added, but there is not enough light, but if i scale the tree down further it can get lit up to a point that is not bad(not as i would like but ok). But the trees are too small then, now speedtree does have lighting settings that can be changed but again it is only exterior cells that those settings seem to affect on the trees.

Any suggestions how to get the tree lit up for a interior at a reasonable size tree

To test
Open up the Test cell in CS TestEricMagic(reason being it has high ceiling like my mod)
WorldObjects >> Trees >> TreeCamoranParadise02

Set the scale to 0.2. Now without holes in the ceiling it will remain pitch black all the leaves

Oh Magician i forgot to mention in that pm, check out the UDK, it comes with speedtree 5.0, and heaps of other stuff, it is a bit restricted in some ways, but for games like Fallout New Vegas what im dying for, it will help out a lot
