Learn Dova

Or Klingon or Elfish from LOTR, those are fully developed if i'm not mistaken, at least Klingon is, and you will find more people who you could converse with in these languages, if you find the right places.

Plus they're true languages with grammar rules and consistency, rather than a cypher like the Dragon language seems to be designed as. That's perfectly good for its intended use in this instance, and I should be able to suspend my disbelief reasonably enough with it, but when it comes to learning a language, I personally would rather have something with a little more meat to it. ;)

Hey, if people take the time to learn Sindarin and Quenyan, then why not Dova, too?

I'd learn it just to understand what the draugr and other creatures and NPCs say when they talk in Dova.

Everyone talking about Klingon and N'avi (or however it's spelled), well that's different. So far, Dragon has had nearly the same exact grammar as English (simplified even). Klingon and N'avi have their own unique structure distinct from other languages.

Those people are crazy too. :P

Learning real world languages expands your horizons, but fictional languages just narrows them down in my opinion.

Hm ... you're wrong. I speak Goa'uld and Anquietas :) And Albanian, and english, german too (and basically all germanic languages). And italian, and spanish and french, and croatian and russian (and basically all slavic-language families) and latin ... and right now I'm learning arabic, and I wanna learn hebrew and ancient greek. Chinese too (I speak a little bit already). And japanese. I also would like to speak urdu and sanscrit. I wanna be able to think in sumerian, write in akkadian and converse in phoenician.
I wanna be able to enjoy the written treasure of every culture on earth and beyond in the original language.

Languages are a passion.

I wanna learn that too.

Didn't you ever use to talk to kids (as a kid) in reverse speech? Or a speech where you add characters every 2 characters or so? When I was 10 I think, I created a whole new alphabet and wrote almost a complete book in it. I can still read it today.

God, the kids of today have no imagination, no attention span whatsoever. They want everything right now! And when they get it, they want the next thing, because this is boring! And then they want this and that, everything is fast! now! give give give! too long! OMG, ROFLMAO, a "book", what is that? Is that like a very long SMS? 111eleventy1.

Well... since they are creating the words according to some simple rules, if we received those rules, you should be able to start creating any words not already created by the devs.

There is the added benefit that if we have a few people around here that can speak it, that means there is a source for modders to create lore-accurate mods, with accurate voice over work and writing. Not sure I'll be taking the time to master it myself, but I'll dabble, and I fully encourage anyone that is willing to do it!

Are you trying to insult me or something? Also where did I ever give the impression that I have no imagination?

Chill out dude, I am talking generally about the kids today.

I only quoted you because of the lojban. :)

Technically... I think that might be incorrect. Languages more or less evolved, and aren't really "created," unless its a bunch of people getting together to start one or something, so much as they just became on their own. Thats probably more of an opinion though.

I love the fact that you potentially could learn the language.

The feeling that, playing the game, you are just dangling your toes in a living, alien world... and that you could go 'full nerd' and dig much deeper if the fancy took you.

Kind of like the way ES games have so many in-game books. I don't spend that much time reading them, but just knowing that they are there, waiting, makes the world feel that little bit more real.
