Darknut's Weapons and Armor - I need help

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:18 pm

Hey everyone

I know these mods are not from here, however I don't see why it would hurt to ask, since the people here probably use them too.

First, I have installed the game, added more then 1? Gbyte of retexturing, and use MGE XE, and it all works great. Actually its so great, I at times make it for being Crysis... Its better then Oblivion now... If ever someone, or a collective of people, EVER has, or will "Win the Internet" the morrowind modders are those.

Anyway to the problem. For some unexplained reason, not all the textures from Darknut's MW Armor Textures, Darknut's Little Weapons Mod Complete, and Darknut's Better Clothes Textures doesn't all work. The chain mail is one texture I noticed have changed, but most of them don't. I download the mods, and follow the readme to the letter, and as I have a lot of experience adding mods, I don't believe its a placement issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated

EDIT: Could it be because I use "better bodies" mod?

Either the texture(s) are not in the right folder, or you have replaced them with another "mod" that replaces the texture(s). Those are really the only possibilities when it comes to textures not being replaced.....

When you use that many mods, especially texture replacers, it would be a good idea to check out Wrye Mash. It lets you install and uninstall mods on the fly and shows you which texture replacers are currently on top of the stack and thus active and which have been overridden by another.

The thing is, I did a completely clean install, installed the Texture Replacers, and even then it didn't seem to do anything.

As said, the Chain Mail seem to be sharper, but thats about it.

Is it possible the difference is so small that I just don't notice the change?

If you are bored, and just to be triple sure I'm not doing it wrong SOMEHOW with this one mod. Could someone write a Idiots "how to" for the mod? (assuming you are using it ofc)

The textures are in separate folders for easy identification, but all the individual files need to be installed in the Texture folder. Do not install the folders themselves.
Just copy the files you want to use to Morrowind\Data Files\Textures\

There is one mesh in this release ( A_Ebony_CL_Pauldron.nif ) & it goes in Data Files\Meshes\a\

There's not much to it. Copy the included Textures and Meshes folder and paste them inside your Morrowind/Data Files folder clicking 'yes' when it asks you to overwrite. If you want to make sure those are the textures and meshes you see in-game, simply do it once more to let them overwrite whatever the current ones are.

edit: mind that one mesh indeed, like Pluto said.

In that case its installed correctly. I have a bug with that website, which results in me not being able to see the screenshot (I keep get the commercials, no matter how many times I "Contiue"). If the files are indeed in there, is anything else that can result in me not seen the changes? (I don't use any other item replacers)

EDIT: Fixed the problem, and looked. Its the same screen shot as on the mods page, and its definitivly the original thats being used (looked at the horns near the.. well.. below the belt region, to make sure). This is so frustrating... :(

Yes, there are. Maybe one of the plugins you're using has an esp that edited all the armors to use it's own meshes/textures. Maybe you should post the mods you currently have activated (the list can be found at the bottom of your ini).

As for the last (Better Clothes), I installed this just now, so I can promise this isn't the problem.

I also have tons of pluginless texture replacers for other parts of the game, although as nothing was overwritten, and the armor textures were placed AFTER, this shouldn't effect it right?

Correct, last one will overwrite the others and thus be seen in-game. As for that list, I don't see anything that might explain this (although I don't know what llm-hard is). Have you checked if the files are physically in the 'Textures'-folder?

The last one however, should only effect cloth, and not armor, so the armor should be normal. Has the files are physically present in the folder. I'm thinking maybe its so long ago that I played the original, that the difference just ain't noticable.

That'd be simple to test. Make sure you have a certain piece of armor in your inventory (something big like a cuirass). Make a good close-up screenshot. Exit the game and delete the texture for the item (texture-names are mostly self-explanatory). Reload the game, take another screenshot and check the difference between both screenshots.

edit: Don't delete the texture, simply paste it on your desktop for the time being and afterwards you just put it back in the textures folder.
