Morning Star Islands

Hey there,

Has anyone else tried the modhttp://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4435?

Its 5 years old now, with no hope of an update - and for a first time mod its pretty good. Its just lacking in asthetics, dialogue etc....
I was wondering if anyone out there would be intrested in adding too this/doing it up etc... ??

Also if anyone else has played it/wants to try it, please post a review!

I was thinking of doing it myself, kinda like what I did for Riller-Mosh but I want to know if theres a niche out there for it, i.e is it something people want? Basically I like the idea of the mod, it just feels empty/incomplete.

So thoughts? Ideas? reviews? cheese?

Wow how'd I not have this one. Looks interesting. I'd probably use it even if it's not "gussied up". I'm always looking for more landmasses ..particularly ones with something to do on them.

So there is at least one person who'd use it. crackers

Why wouldnt it? It adds a new landmass north of Solstheim and my mod starts you off on Solsthiem.

I have one issue with this mod, which is to say, the nordic wooden village is just too unrealistic, I mean, if there is no trees on the island at all, where did they get the wood, shouldn't they be in igloos or something? :P But seriously, I still can't believe that its a first time mod, its actually very well done.

I've been thinking this too. Perhaps a few trees close to the town?

I have used it for some time now, it isn′t much to do in quests and the likes, but good hunting grounds, besides it is nice to hunt in those icy, snowy areas, talking to some people now and then.
But most of all more land to explore.

haven′t had it isntalled lately though, the details is escaping me atm, but sure,a quest or two would be nice.

Maybe they import from Solstheim.

I've just made quick tour around this icy island (1 level PC) and I like it a lot, but I think there is much work to be done before it's complete.

This mod is half finished imo. It should definitely have igloos and quests with extensive dialogs for the inhabitants.

I disagree to have any trees in this mod, because the author has stated that the intention with this mod is a theme of the Nords harsh life and it's culture. :)

Just out of curiosity I checked (downloaded 2 others) the author's other released mods and my impression is that he/she has a special taste for new landmasses theme mods. I'm to tired right now so will pop in later to post my reviews of this mod. I really need some sleep now.

I have and love this mod, and found the glacial lights fantastic. For fun, I took my character on walkabout once past the glacier to the open snowy wilderness, all the way to the outermost island shore. Having the Abot's fish mod made this trek very sweet, as by the time I got to the shore, penguins and Orca were patrolling the shore and waters. It was like walking on the arctic shores.

As for the wooden homes, I agree with the thought that perhaps they were just imported from Solstheim. Makes plenty of sense really, filling a few longboats with timber, setting up homes that they would feel most comfortable with upon disembarking. It is not the first time in history or in fantasy that a peoples "brought their own" with them to get comfortable.

Which is why I was asking (since I cannot mod at all) for the likes of a transportable set of artic colored Yurts, and a few tented longboats that I could place on shores that are also transportable.

I opened it up with enchanted and I found it... surprisingly clean the only issue I saw were a ton of extra cells with no references mostly center around moesung mountain, everything else looks good.

I think with some work this mod could definitely grow into something greater.

Speaking of which... I suggest that the first priority should be an creation or fixing the world map, because there is no one present in game with my mods. :)

I didn't install the map expansion for TR with mcp 1.9 but I don't know if that has to do with that or not. :unsure2:

Yeah that map silly me.

I thought about it, so why not try something new a little exotic environment on the island. That could be 3-5 village camps (village is to big and camp is to small) scattered around the island and only 1-2 village camps shouldn't be hostile, but the rest is more or less hostile to the player or to the living nords. To have more challenging experience of your adventures there could be a country shop in the middle of nowhere, which you can sleep for free provided that you can transport some goods from the nord harbor village to that trader. But first you need to find the cabin and secure it before you return to the village. Later on there could be an option to have a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sled_dog service (maybe breeding too) in the nord village, so that you can use it for faster traveling if you want.
