Would the Fallout series be classified as "Science Ficti

Would the Fallout series be classified as scifi or something else? And I'm not talking about the games themselves (which I assume would fall under RPG) but the plot/story of the series?

Under a simple definition, yes, they're Sci-Fi. Its Futuristic and science/science! plays a big part in establishing the world.

But there's a bit of Alternative history in there as well, making it an "Alternative Future", kinda like SteamPunk and ClockPunk. Perhaps there needs to be a new name: TubePunk? (As Tubes take the place of Tranistors and Integrated circuts).

(Is this whats making you think styles?)

I first went with simple definition but then the Alternative timeline made me stop and think. There are alot of science fiction things in Fallout but its not a vision of our future.

It's not a 'sci-fi' game, it's a survival / alternate history game in my opinion.

Although I couldn't care less about what we classify the genre as, it does have science fiction elements, but it is only part of what the game is.

It's Sci-Fi with a dabble of Retro-futurism. It also falls under alternate history, survival, and reconstruction.

Nuclearpunk? Dieselpunk? Alternate history? Who knows, I however prefer 'Retro-Future World of Tomorrow'

I think sci-fi can be alternate history as long as it is has futuristic science and technology.

I think it's a retro-futuristic post-apocalypit roll playing game, with science fiction and first person shooter elemets (in the newer ones case)...

So it's a r-f p-a rpg with sci-fi and fps elemetns
