Close Combat Revealed!

you should be able to say something when you do it like if there the same race say a nord stabbing another warrior nord in the heart either say if your fame is high you died well or if your infamy is high call him a pregnant cow.

Or on the flipside if your an elf assassin (I know no classes right but stealth skills high) then depending on your fame infamy you either say a prayer and close their eyes or call them a disgrace to their kind and shove them off your blade.

Now those would be cool things that would add to the game that and make special kills personally satisfying and add a certain depth.

Page 50 of the GI issue contains a screen where a hooded figure pulls in another character, holding him close by his arm, GRABBING him and stabbing him in the stomach with a sword.

How have we gone this long without pointing out this major game play change?

Maybe I haven't followed the forums as closely, but if close combat is possible or if we are able to perform combat moves that involve such restricting and dominating acts as to grasp another character and hold them close to stab them, then I missed something.

If this is simply a screenshot of the aforementioned "finishing moves" then oh well, it still looks cool.

But close combat skills/moves would be cool, none-the-less.

We didn't miss it i posted a topic on it it is a finishing move.

I couldn't agree more. I'm hoping for an update on this soon. The Game Informer article today that gives readers Skyrim wallpapers mentions, "Check back in the coming days and you'll find a dedicated article on the combat of Skyrim, including Bethesda's exciting dual-hand approach to battles." I've got my fingers crossed that they give more details on these finishing moves.

I'm really looking forward to that article on combat. Hopefully they talk about finishing moves. I'm also interested in some hand to hand information too. I wonder how that has redesigned with the new combat?

I thought it was the Dark Brotherhood, because of his black hood, and he almost looks like he's in a crouched position, as if he was sneaking.

It's probably a finishing move. It looks really good too.

Meh, finishing moves are just showy game trailer stuff.

It'll be the same as melting down someone with a plasma weapon in Fallout. Something that just happens, that nobody cares about.

No. Todd Howard explained that each weapon has special finishing moves. These consist of the last move you do when you kill someone. Not a percent chance of turning someone to ash. Don't compare TES to Fallout please.

He also said they change depending on what you're killing.

Lasers make ash, plasma makes puddles, and guns make explody heads, and these "finishing moves" only happen on the killing blow.

Explain the distinction between finishing with a dagger stab to the gut and making puddles, please.

dammit now i have to go look for this picture.

I'm wondering how the finishing moves are going to be implemented. Will it be automatic, or a special button?

Since they're borrowing a bit from RDR, I feel that it might be like the finishing moves there, but I'm wondering under what conditions they occur.
